Just a few things. I've known Karl (and Ian) since he started shooting matches at Pima Pistol club many years ago.
First off, yes Dawn is Karl's ex-wife. They were married when I met him, and divorced a few years ago (2017/18ish iirc?). The story is that Karl got really deep into the edgy atheist "satanist' club in Tucson, and ended up meeting a bunch of new people and cheating on his wife during one of their group-orgy camping trips. Karl ended up in a weird relationship with a girl from Indiana (Sarah), and left his wife for her. I can happily say that Dawn is doing extremely well, she is wholesome and very much unlike Karl in so many ways that I am glad they are separated. I helped move Dawn out of Karl's house at the end, and it was awful to see her hurt by him but she is now fully recovered. Please don't pry too deep into her personal life, she deserves to be untouched by Karl's idiocy.
As far as Ian/Karl split, that has been an on-going process since 2018ish. Ian and Karl are simply just too different to be compatible. Ian is extremely pragmatic, and largely apolitical. Karl is an extreme narcissist, and becomes dogmatically wrapped up in whatever his latest cause is. What no one has stated is that Karl is practically a fraud in starting IRTV. Almost all of his content is just recycling stuff out of our shooting community in Tucson/Phoenix. For example, the WWSD rifle is ripped straight from our friend Paul, who put a criterion pencil barrel and carbon fiber tube on an old GWACs lower to make a light gamer gun for matches (it did have a muzzle break and eotech, but still). Another example is that the 2GACM match existed before Karl became match director, he didn't start the match or have the first idea and although he did invest a lot of his time into it years ago, today he barely ever shows up for matches unless he is specifically filming an IRTV episode. The "Kasarda Drill" is something that we had been doing before Karl named it after himself, and he lifted a bunch of his stages designs for the Brutality matches straight from other people's stages. A lot of his video topics are things that we would discuss over beers and bbq after a match, he just ended up taking the discussion and making it into a video, and putting it on youtube. At one point Karl tried to monetize the Tucson 2gacm by requiring patreon membership, but some of us went to the PPC board and had that stopped. Most of us old regulars stopped attending his match long ago since Karl manages to drive away everyone around him eventually. For example mike pannone used to shoot that match until karl screamed at him about leaving behind empty magazines, and he never showed up again. Luckily we have Paul's match in Phoenix, along with others. Also luckily Karl spends almost all of his time in his new New Orleans condo, away from Tucson and away from us.
Karl will utterly destroy himself if given the chance, it's always a matter of time. The current Karl is different than the one I first met years ago.
