The ACLU cannot afford this stuff literally because it changes their income too much. Stingy wokes fighting culture wars constantly don't make up what you lose from more moderate progressives or civil liberties types of all political stripes. They could do this under Trump as long as they were "fighting" him but after November 2020 this went away for at least four years.

In 2016, Sanders was way too far to the left for him.
