Hating an animal that is a danger to you is natural. This is why I can get inbred hicks hating rattlesnakes. While I don't have anything against rattlesnakes, I only ever saw one in the zoo. Rattlesnakes can bite and kill you, your livestock, your kids, your pets. You don't want them near your farms. So a redneck having an aversion to them has a natural reason. If there were rattlesnakes in my country, I would want them gone. I'll rather lay rat traps than risk a poisoned bite. How the snakes are gone wouldn't matter. Just don't be near me.

See, it makes sense to hate pest animals like snakes or coyotes. That's completely natural when you live in an area where they're a common issue. Snakes are a great example because they're not only pests, but dangerous pests to the point of being potentially lethal to anyone and anything they come across. That being said, you could go to the most red-necked Cletus in the country and he'd still kick your ass if you told him "yeah i really love restraining snakes and slowly torturing them to death on video" because it doesn't take a genius or a moralfag to see why that's fucking insane.

There's a pack of raccoons I frequently have issues with, the fuckers love getting in my garbage late at night and making a huge mess. It's very frustrating, and I certainly wouldn't be upset if they were to up and die one day. But the thought of catching one and flaying its genitals or poking its eyes out or doing any number of the sadistic and degenerate bullshit these assholes do to monkeys has never once crossed my mind. The monkeyfuckers are insufferable when they make this argument that "monkeys are pests in Asia, so its justified to torture them" because even if they did live somewhere monkeys were a serious pest for them, it is an indicator of some completely fucked up/non-existent morals to humour the loathsome shit they do to these creatures and take pleasure in it. I heavily suspect it's just a front. Don't be fooled, fellow kiwitrannies; the people who make these arguments know for a fact it's total bullshit, but they need anything they can get to justify (mostly to themselves) the ethics of watching baby monkeys get violently tortured on the internet.

That was my point. Wanting to kill a pest animal is one thing. But the monkeyfuckers are targeting animals that are not a pest to them, and don't want to kill them, but torture them.

The sad part about snakes is that unless you happen to have a garter snake hibernation den (with hundreds or even thousands of snakes in one place - don't worry they're nonvenomous) right on your property, they're not even pests. The odds of being bit by a snake are incredibly low. With humans, it's almost always because they were the ones messing with the snake, trying to kill it or whatever. With livestock, it's still a negligable risk (livestock animals instinctively avoid snakes) unless you're talking specifically about eggs getting eaten. And even then, snakes do such a good job of killing rats and mice (even better than cats do) that you might as well let 'em have a few eggs a year. It's like paying them for the extermination of the actual pests. Fear/hatred of snakes, even of venemous snakes (which by the way most people are shit at identifying - how many harmless Dekay's brown snakes get killed a year because some idiot swore up and down it was a water moccasin?) is based largely on misconceptions and "tradition". Snakes should be treated with a healthy caution and respect. Leave them alone, they'll leave you alone. You, and your dog, and your cow, are 100x bigger than them. They don't want a fight. They do want your rats and mice, though.

This is of course somewhat besides the point. While rattlesnake roundups do exist, they're a very niche thing that most rednecks haven't ever been exposed to. Usually when one hears about one, there is a "What the fuck? Why would you do that to them?" reaction.

Hell, most people get squeamish the first time they dissect something in school. And those are frogs that you can visually tell haven't been hurt or starved in any way before being euthanized. Same thing with your first time seeing a meat animal being butchered. Plus, most people going through vet school/pre-vet get really squicked out the first time they perform/see a surgical procedure being performed on a live animal, even if it's just a spaying or neutering (which are incredibly fast procedures with small incisions and very little blood. You'd be surprised).
A non-fucked-in-the-head human has a natural aversion to this kind of thing, because we automatically associate it with the animal being in pain. If it's a situation where the animal isn't in pain (whether humanely killed beforehand or under anesthesia) then we can get over it, but the opposite applies here.

I make an exception for whatever the fuck goes on in China. I know that cooking/eating animals alive is not a common practice there, but it still happens often enough to be like, what the hell?

Hey, as a chicken owner I would like to clarify that chicken snakes will eat your chickens. It's not just eggs. They'll go for small chicken breeds, chicks, quail, any bird that will fit in their mouth and it's awful.

I have two distinct memories of chicken snakes:

First one is a snake eating a duckling, and then my dad rushing to cut its head off. He wanted to try to try to save the duckling, because it was his kid's favorite one. He just didn't want to see me cry. He didn't torture it, despite having a strong "reason."

The second memory is one got inside of our house, and inside of my cockatiels' cage. It had eaten the male, and was too fat to get out. I was a teenager, so I called a neighbor with a gun. It threw-up the bird as I was getting the female from the cage, because it knew it was stuck. And still, no torture. Just quick disposal.

I despise chicken snakes, as most farmers do, but I'm not going to torture them. I'm not going to torture any animal, pest or not.

I think he dresses up like some tokusatsu hero (like those shitty power ranger shows or ultraman or whatever). Uses a machete in the video I saw.

It was so weird that I didn't really process what I actually was seeing. I kinda forgot about it immediately after I watched it which was a nice mercy.

i'd do that but i genuinely hadn't thought about this guy in months, so i can't remember what his channel is called, and if i'm not wrong i think its name is in japanese too, so not something i could easily search for again. not to be a pessimist but from what i remember, the backgrounds were very nondescript. forested area, hill. nothing really by way of defining feature or human structure. plus he wears a mask.
but then again, shia's HWNDU flag was found just y cloud pattern and planes flying over head, so anything is possible.
