Not saying that they deserved what happened to them, but the Internet Archive were some of the faggots that abandoned their principles to suck the girldick by deleting Kiwi Farms archives during the Keffuful last year.
Also, and I may be getting some of this wrong here, but IIRC Lolcow turbo-Karen Taylor Lorenz’s uncle works/worked at IA and was involved in scrubbing her internet footprint for her.

I think we need to take a moment to appreciate this whole thing coming full circle, because Chucky Boy is almost certainly going to take home the wrong lessons from this (and if he takes the right ones to heart, I will eat those words gladly). He is getting absolutely eviscerated by every side of the political aisle right now, and with good reason, but there's also a certain irony here: Wendig actually realized he was wrong. By his own admission.
To hear Wendig himself tell it, his sperg-out was what led his publisher to take action, and only after the fact did he realize the weight of what he did, and he tried to get the word out on stopping it. He even signed against it. And having the balls to take what, on the surface, appears to be a principled stance is.... Admittedly sort of rare for cows in the circle Wendig frequents.
However, I do not think Wendig took this stance out of principle; I think he took it out of fear.
From the moment he came out against Internet Archive, he was squarely in the scopes of an absolute ton of activists on his own side, who, if the lawsuit went forward, would have happily fed him foot-first into a wood chipper. His own side savaged him them, and they're not going to stop now. There is a high probability thus that he only took the morally correct position after his own side was sizing him up to see what size coffin they'd need, and it's only through that that Wendig realized he backed the wrong horse.
This, paired with his near-decade of being an absolute tard online, makes it extremely hard to feel any genuine sympathy for him. He's got this long history of being an unmitigated bastard for stupid fucking reasons, and while I can give him props for coming to the right conclusion on one part of it, the internet is never going to forgive him for it since he was the first one to shit his pants over Internet Archive.

Agreed, that being said I don’t quite like this outcome because it sets a bad precedent going forward, also copyright protections need to be neutered from their current form, the DMCA is a bullshit system that, in addition to being heavily exploitable, completely ignores due-process just to protect massive corporations.

Pointless - I say that very sadly. Wendig outside of laughs and sperg is so completely irrelevant to getting anything done seeing him get offer by some assmad twitterina wouldn’t stop the fact the IA lost the case. He produces zero beloved work that people would be sad to see no longer continuing, has no real family who would miss him, wouldn’t kick off a movement if he got attacked or worse. Knowing he is crying in private over everyone hating him and rightly so is the best punishment for now.

Don’t know if anyone’s posted this yet, but this is a book review on Wendig’s most popular book, some Star Wars shit. The video creator (great content if you like seeing people read shitty books) even goes over Wendsoy’s lawsuit and explains how it hurts the circulation of banned books.

So hey, maybe Chuck really did pull a complete 180 and changed his stance on the matter (or maybe he didn't want to keep hearing his peers chastise him for taking such a dimwitted stance). However, there should've been a public statement or tweet of him saying, "Hey, I did say this a few years ago, but have since changed my stance completely." Instead, we have his account locked down, him being mentioned in an open letter against the suit last October, and this guy at IA basically saying "just trust me bro."
Like come the fuck on. Chuck had one simple job to do if he wanted to change public perception, and yet he didn't bother to clear things up 3 years later.
