Barbie - A More Successful Movie than You'd Think

Yeah, that looks stupid as fuck.
I would almost partially respect them for not just doing the laziest/most obvious thing and using "Barbie Girl" for the teaser, but we all know it's coming in one of the full trailers.
I can't find the source atm, but they won't be using that song at all in the entire movie apparently. I know the creator of Barbie hated the song too.

"What are you doing??"

"I drive."

Suppose I should post this:

Reminds me of Lego Movie, even has Will Ferrell.

I have no idea what a Barbie movie should even be about. It wasn't like He-Man or Transformers where there were cartoons and comics and movies to give a backstory (there was a Christmas Barbie cartoon from years back but that is it). At least Barbie and Ken are both white. I guess the pedos in Hollywood knew blacking Barbie would be a bridge too far.

Just seems to be a sillier, toy-focused version of Enchanted (or whatever that movie was where the fairy tale princess came to the real world). I'll probably watch it just to see if there's a schlondpoofah/schnoggenwrench reference in it - but I'm certainly not going to pay to do that.

Looks fun. Follows that Space Jam formula of a hyperreal fictional fantasy world colliding with reality.

That's kind of to their advantage. If you have a blank slate you can write any story. Which is no guarantee it would be a good one but it at least offers options.

They could easily rip off Clueless or Legally Blond with so little restrictions and get away with it. I'm curious what they'll end up going with.
