Back in the mid 2000's and a little after 2010 the AR vs AK debate was a lot less settled than it is now and Suarez was a big AK tactical instructor. He made a big deal out of it and then "switched" to the SIG 550 platform because the AK wasn't good enough, and then I guess he "switched" to the AR-15 later if I have this last part right. He has always had a hat sized too small for his head in the old videos. The dedication to a platform was part of his whole grift and the switching thing just made it sleazy to some.

He's basically what that faggot Yeager modeled his persona on except the real deal when it came to being a trigger man. He was former SWAT, has been in several shootings, and has an ego the size of fucking Jupiter. He's also been charged with felonies (plead down to misdemeanors) and (I don't recall if convicted) workers comp fraud, and generally acts unhinged with some seriously opinions.

That being said, while I've never taken any of his classes, he has been a range instructor at agencies around the country and is generally considered great at what he does, controversy aside.

The point of the WWSD project was not to try and see what Stoner would've made if he wanted to make a cool gun, it was to try and imagine what would have resulted if you attempted to create an AR-15 using modern parts *to fulfil its original design goals*, e.g. an ultralightweight, short to medium range, fighting carbine. Whether or not these goals actually make sense or whether what they came up with was really all that good, those are questions for another time. However, comparing their gun to a DMR makes no sense, the guns were designed with very different goals in mind.

i didnt follow the WWSD concept beyond the first few vidoes but i recall ian's version was a DMR. it's why his had a longer barrel and a scope (i also recall a detachable bipod) rather than karl's shorter barrel and red dot/reflexive (cant quite recall the sights on it, but it was something like that.) so for ian's WWSD it is totally kosher to compare it to a DMR.

Iirc it was intended to be like a "DMR" variant of the concept, that he eventually dropped bc he realized that he was trying to achieve two diametrically opposed goals. The actual commercial WWSD was based more on Karl's than Ian's I'm pretty sure.
