reddit General

I cannot imagine how you would even consider having a conservative sub on reddit like that. It just seems like such a futile task with no possible upsides to it. Everyone knows redditors brigade to hell and back and we all know the admins look the other way so why even bother?

They don't even get free hot pockets. The only pockets they get for free are rot pockets from Medicaid.

Because an IPO connected to a porn outlet will go over like a lead Hindenburg.

Also a lot of it is straight up CP or revenge porn or other illegal content that opens them up to civil and criminal liability, and their unpaid tranny janny groomers like Steven "Tardfinn" Akins are in full support of that shit and even post it to subreddits they don't like to get them banned.
I mean, from jailbait to sissy hypno, to being used as a market for kids to buy HRT shit brewed up in an old bath tub full of binbags, the relentless attacks on advertisers as a means to silence things they hate, they seemingly hate almost everything, every non porn sub is still often filled with softcore shit (most gaming subs just endlessly post coom bait". Imaging having to explain to an English Lord and a Japanese multinational directer what the fuck "gooning" is and how thats going to be a solid investment.

One interesting thing from the AMA is that they're 100% not changing the effective date. I suspect this means they're going to try and IPO around October which means they need a couple months of the new fees to prove to investors that they have a path towards profitability.

I'm hopeful that this whole mess gives us shit to laugh at for months to come.

They aren't going to make money off fees and subreddits are even more on the side of going dark. The official app has serious issues that make it unusable.

Many of the admins just don't know what they are doing either. A couple hours after the ama, there was a short call with admins and about 10 mods of top partner community subreddits. It did not go well. The admins admitted to not knowing anything about third party apps to include which program was on which OS. They also couldn't explain which apps were going to get blocked by the new API policy, such as reddit-streams.

This is after a call last night that went horribly. They had a chance to prepare spez for today but they failed.

Here are the notes from last night. It's worth a read to really see the incompetence. Also one of the admins admitted to being involved in getting Kotaku in Action unprivated by removing the top mod.

Wouldn't it be extremely easy to monetize reddit given how retarded and childish the users are? I've seen generic "Drumpf bad" posts with like 5k worth of reddit gold attached to them. Hell you could even pull a Lowtax and offer rabid shitlibs the ability to ban other users they hate for $100 and I bet you'd make fuck tons of cash.

Today in the ama spez mentioned upping the ban note character limit from 1k to 5k like it was a big deal and took a lot of work.

Adding Something Awful features are too complex.

Lowtax spend twenty years in a coma of boxed wine, hillbilly heroin, and troon scat porn and still did more than the reddit admins.

Imagine being less competent than Lowtax. Maybe when their pathetic IPO fails they'll do use a favor and follow in his footsteps.

Great, so jobless pedophile jannies can now go off on even more sanctimonious rants about their ban reasons and how some normal person is worse than they are because instead of molesting children, they have jobs and shit.

I wouldn't be surprised if those awards are given away freely for astroturfing, I mean obviously a redditoid wouldn't have a job. At best they're in college pursuing a degree in philosophy, english or anything else they can't comprehend.

The level of incompetence of these admins is trully something to behold. It would be trivial to fix the app and site compared to the shit they are doing. The mods protesting will literally make the bullet points and list of features they want FOR FREE for them to follow.

But that is too hard. Gotta instead burn your bridges. Too much work to have one of them download a app to check the competition or make basic fucking fixes to the website based on HTML first pioneered and mastered 20 years ago.

Huffman's incompotence is so mind bogglingly fucking inspiring. He is the worst enemy of reddit's IPO and I have no idea how they're letting him remain as CEO when he is not fit to manage anything larger than a lemonade stand.

Under his watch:
* Hired a known pedophile and then tried to censor criticism of her
* Still hasn't managed to get his company out of the red after two decades even with constant shilling of Reddit coins, NFTs, etc.
* Let r/the_donald run free for four years and shit up the site until it was no longer politically inconvenient to ban them
* Has continually lied to the community that develops tools and communities on his website for free (anyone remember "Reddit is ProCSS?") and is now telling them to go fuck themselves

And I don't even think that's a definitive list. I really think at this point the moderator team for every major subreddit should just close up shop. Yes, reddit will replace them, but it would be a gigantic pain in the ass trying to do that for hundreds if not thousands of subreddits.

He didn't let the_donald run free, but he did ban them as soon as he had a excuse.

He was caught once editting peoples comments using administration tools on the servers backend (meaning it was also stealthly done) on t_d because they hurt his feelings. Imagine the level of pettiness needed for this.

Also remember how t_d was quarantined before it was banned? The excuse to do it was "threatening law enforcement" which is hilarious given it was done in 2019 and how ACAB and BLM exploded into 2020 as a sacred cow.

The best part was how they were constantly fucking with the back end popularity algorythms to remove t_d from the front page. They once put a seconds old 0 upvote post on top of r/all because of how incompetent they were with their manipulation letting everyone know they were fucking with it.

Funny how people who scream that democracy is being destroyed any time they lose don't really have any interest in democracy on anything they actually control.

Sometimes democracy has to be fortified or the voters will vote against their self interest. It's just your betters nudging you in the right direction.

Rossmann weighs in again on the reddit "blackout". He points out that a 2 day blackout is nothing because you're effectively telling reddit that it doesn't matter what they do, you will be back in 2 days. A protest/blackout needs to be indefinite to force real change. Also he references Daniel Micay again which gave me a chuckle.
Louis seems to hold redditors in much higher regard than he should especially since a lot of them have falsely attacked him for no good reason. I sincerely doubt reddit jannies would be able to get off reddit long enough to boycott it effectively because theyre all basement dwellers and theyre all hopelessly addicted to the site.

I just wish this huge mod strike happened after reddit managed to sneak an IPO stock ticker in. Watching reddit become a penny stock within a few days is a dream of mine. Even funnier would be if the powermods coordinated it with some potential insider trading with puts and whatnot. If somehow this event has lasting effect, the greatness is significantly limited due to a lack of publicly clear financial impact.

i just can't imagine being such a thin skinned pussy to edit someone's comments just bc they hurt my feelings. what a limp wristed faggot

In social media, microtransactions like those usually account for an insignificant chunk of revenue compared to ads. People who have stores, run events spend a part of their marketing spend on reddit, and reddit displays ads for them until the money dries up. Reddit's ads have low conversion rate, so they are cheaper compared to better adtech. If they wanted to increase revenue, they would probably look to increase their datamining and user classification.
But profitability can usually be obtained by simply cutting costs. This means mostly layoffs (which I'm sure are coming) and to a lesser extent, cutting unprofitable features like the free api.
