Linus Gabriel Sebastian & Linus Media Group / Linus Tech Tips - Narcissistic corporate shill YouTuber driving his media empire into the ground. KILL COUNT: 2

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
GN is pretty much the only PC tech channel I routinely watch. Yeah, his videos aren't fruity and over the top and 'entertaining', but they're actually useful info and aren't full of bullshit. They actually do a journalism, personal relationships be damned.
LTT is the twinkie of tech youtubers. Fluff, filler, no actual nutritional value.

And my cat just puked on the floor behind me, that's what she thinks of LTT, too.

EDIT: I listened to LTT *once*. When they said the noctua d-15 cooler was better than water coolers and showed their 'charts', so I got one. While it is a great air cooler it is in no way better than even a mediocre AIO. Just look at any of the CPU cooler charts GN puts out.
GN is excellent, and most others are compromised by entertainment or sponsors. For laptops I love Jarrod's tech and Notebookcheck.

Also, Twinkies are fun little snacks (on occasion). Linus is a weirdo dumbass. Totally different.
this is a masterclass on what 'calling out someone's bullshit' looks like.

bravo, GN
ahaha yep. Linus is seething.
This is why I unsubbed from every tech channel besides debauer, GN, and dawid.
These three are good, and a few smaller ones are excellent. Ones that JUST do say laptops, cameras/lenses, and more inches stuff are fine, especially if they're smaller and not wanneb media companies like LTT.
holy shit, i haven't heard the name mindchop in forever.

i didn't know he killed himself due to linus' autistic fanbase. damn man.

edit: just watched the video linked, holy fuck. linus is such a scummy fucking asshole. if he wasn't such a prick, he'd probably realize he's some disabled adult that wanted to get something he liked with his dad. glad to know that he did nothing to circumvent the hatred sent to his channel boils my blood because "i was really emotional at that time". fucking off yourself man if you can't handle life
Linus is a status obsessed man child and I'll bet his wife is just as status/money obsessed.
So fag leaf has
-100 employees
-1 warehouse mostly paid off
-1 new warehouse still owing money on
-1 McMansion completely renovated with a money pit pool that took two years to finish, probably on a mortgage to keep cash liquid to buy the new warehouse
-1 Porsche taycan likely leased, and another Tesla iirc
-1 new badminton facility he bought or co bought to make a badminton/lan party center

All of this done during the peak or near peak of peak Vancouver economy, as Canadian rents shoot up even higher because of the chyna illegals and other bad hombres

First thing is probably selling a bunch of LTT stuff, then temporary scaling back of labs. Badminton and all his ideas of making every court have cameras and robot line calling like in tennis tournaments will likely be paused and it will just be a money pit badminton center.

Mac Address might be the first channel to go, then maybe techquickie. Maybe he’ll buy out a contract of someone like Riley (who wants to go do more voice acting as a cover), or Tranthony scares away the female employees and salary but is lowered. Maybe they rush a GFuel or GamerSupps flavor through for quick attention and monetary gain, or let DBrand buy a small stake in the company…
I can almost guarantee that his wife pushes HARD for the McMansion and other conspicuous consumption bullshit. She's probably trying to show off to the family back home in the CCP and the other Chinese in Vancouver.
Saw this on linus' twitter while looking for a response. Does he really need that many employees to make these stupid youtube videos? Its no wonder there are so many problems.

Linus probably hired friends and family regardless of talent, and they hired other complete idiots.
That was the part of the video that shocked me the most. Prototypes can be incredibly expensive to make and losing your best one to someone who can take it and clone it (there are all kinds of incredibly sophisticated measuring machines out there that and dimension things if they have a physical object to work with) is utterly insane. That can easily sink a company and Linus should be ashamed of being such a retarded faggot.
I'd bet money that Linus sold it to a Chinese copycat company, possibly via his wife. Gotta get that sweet sweet Chinese money.
Honestly, going after hardware unboxed and GN was one of the dumbest things they could had done.
But i called it, motherfucker was assmad that GN and HU could do the same sort of content with way less cash, no 40k a pop cameras, no half a million lab, no server room with 100gbit ethernet, no 5 production studio grade computers and full time editors, etc.
LTT uses a $40k camera? Dude is delusional, he actually wants to be a "media personality". Oh well, all that spend is going to come calling.
They made a followup, responding to Linus response:

Holy shit, Linus dropped communication with Billet labs after hearing how much the prototype would cost and only got back to them after the callout video.

If I read this right Linus offered to pay for it after they had auctioned it of, then when told how much it would cost and asked if they would reimburse the company they went cold, then only contacted them again after this callout video.

There was no real agreement to reimburse the company. Linus lied.
He's a lying scumbag who wanted to make more money off of a smaller company who couldn't fight back.

LTT is scum and their employees are incompetent scum.

Bravo GN

I bet the new CEOs first hire will be a PR person. The whole response should have been drafted and reviewed, not typed out on some forum.
Not just a PR person, the new CEO will have to clean the house. There's absolutely no need for 100+ employees.
They will also need someone who actually cares about ethics if they want to be taken seriously as a media company that does benchmarks. You can't pretend to do serious business whilst partnering with PC parts manufacturers like Noctua on a screwdriver or whatever merch.

While I do not doubt that Linus' team is desperately overworked & Linus himself is a money-grubbing retard I also don't doubt footage like him putting a RAM stick in backwards is staged to try & entertain the audience. His audience is predominantly normalfags who incidentally want to be informed on purchases they fantasize about some day being able to afford.
Then he shouldn't have dumped all that money into a professional testing lab, and then boast about said professional testing lab producing superior quality results compared to competing channels.

It's like the old RLM review of Episode III, if you waver on your tone people are going to get confused about your content and who it's meant for. GN often gets accused of being dry and boring, but they have a clear purpose in their content that is heavily weighted towards scientific objectivity. LTT wants to be zoomer bait and a hard results-driven reporting outlet at the same time - which just means they're hopelessly overstretched and can't do either approach well.

I stopped viewing LTT years ago when Linus' wrinkly middle aged face started to clash too much with those trashy double earrings and teenage boy outfits.

He got way too "How do you do, fellow kids" to view.
Linus isn't middle aged yet but boy he will be insufferable when he is. The amount of "midlife crisis" bullshit he'll come out with as well as calling himself old and referring to the entire audience as kids all the time (he already does this sometimes now).

What will be the "midlife crisis" flex? A yacht? EXTREME TECH YACHT.

You're just not going to put an entire video onto the blockchain. The best approach I can think of is taking individual screenshots in certain random intervals and putting that onto the blockchain instead. Therefore, if someone decides to change the video, the shortened or longer length and many frames that require precision to match up makes this nearly infeasible.

And, it will still not be cheap. The most reasonable method is to take these snapshots and put the URL onto the blockchain in the form of an ERC-1155 standard which batches multiple NFTs (typ. ERC-721) into a single contract.

Who's to say the tokenised URL (NFT) won't be tampered with? An NFT is just a token for a URL that points to an image. There's ways to change the image without changing the URL, though having such a system will complicate the matter enough. I suggested multiple random intervals, if there are several snapshots, then there will be a large amount of snapshots to replace.

This also brings forth the importance to archive the image(s) using archive.today. There is an existing service that takes a snapshot of tweets and puts it onto the blockchain. This image can then be archived properly and in my opinion the combo is just as good as a link archive for preservation purposes. Lacking html information is a huge downside, as such can be used to find sock accounts and other underlying information at times.

They're better off just trying to rationalise whatever the content was to normies.
You only need immutable storage for a hash of the video, SHA-512 is more than enough to detect tampering (that wouldn't render the video unplayable due to malformed data). The file itself can be stored anywhere, the hash can be used to verify that it is indeed the video that was originally committed.
(it is still expensive and impractical though, a nice thought nonetheless)

There's no shot in hell he ever gets his hands on pre-release hardware again, at least not without some kind of ironclad contract or onsite wrangler-representatives to make sure the product doesn't end up being sold in an auction. There's no way that this hasn't gotten around to hardware companies at this point, and I can't imagine them being keen on sending a guy who admits that he literally sold prototype hardware that was requested to be returned multiple times at an event that literally carries his name.
His whole brand is pretty much carried by the nature of getting early access looks at whatever hardware because he's such a shill, but now he's openly admitted to being a massive, gaping risk.

Actually speaking of inconsistent tone, I'm wondering Linus chirped up at all about the recent dockworker strike(s) in BC. Notwithstanding the worst, least efficient ports in the entire developed world clamoring for more benefits, they were an easy local lightning-rod talking point for champagne socialists and Linus has been very resistant to allowing his staff to unionize.

I mean, you can, if you think you use ERC-1155 for files, you're delusional. You should go to similar protocols of Filecoin and IPFS, which are made for files and have the immutability of blockchain

I would love to be in the room when this happens.

He is 36, he is middle aged or very close to it, and he looks like he is in his early 40s.

He would actually look younger if he dressed properly and got rid of his silly earrings, as it his accessories only accentuate how not young and wrinkly his face is getting.

He should bleach his hair and cosplay as Duke Nukem in a review again.

Seing how Linus is spewing content at record pace to try to cover the absurd costs that this oversized mess of a company is operating under, if this happens it might be catastrophic.

This is why i was surprised at the Linus response coming so quick, i really believe Linus wrote it by himself without any pr person in a 10 mile radius, not what you want in this spot, you really have to do everything possible to not drive scare way the big brands (customers dont really matter, they are retarded and most will come back or never leave).

You, the PC community, are amazing. We'd like to thank you for your support, it means more than you can imagine.

Steve at Gamers Nexus has publicly shown his integrity, at the huge risk of backlash, and we have nothing but respect for him for how he's handled himself, both publicly and when speaking directly to us.

...

Regarding LTT, we are simply going to state the relevant facts:

On 10th August, we were told by LTT via email that the block had been sold at auction. There was no apology.

We replied on 10th August within 30 minutes, telling LTT that this wasn't okay, and that this was a £XXXX prototype, and we asked if they planned to reimburse us at all.

We received no reply and no offer of payment until 2 hours after the Gamers Nexus video went live on 14th August, at which point Linus himself emailed us directly.

The exact monetary value of the prototype was offered as reimbursement. We have not received, nor have we asked for any other form of compensation.

...

About the future of Billet Labs: We don't plan to mourn our missing block, we're already hard at work making another one to use for PC case development, as well as other media and marketing opportunities. Yes it sucks that the prototype has gone, it's slowed us but has absolutely not stopped us. We have pre-orders for it, and plan to push ahead with our first production run as soon as we can.

We also have some exciting new products on our website that are available to buy now - we thank everyone who has bought them so far, and we can't wait to see what you do with them.

We're happy to answer any questions, but we won't be commenting on LTT or the specifics of the email exchanges – we're going to concentrate on making cool stuff, and innovative products (the Monoblock being just one of these).

...

We hope LTT implements the necessary changes to stop a situation like this happening again.

Peace out ✌

Felix and Dean

Literally Linus.
The start of middle age has crept up, generally people agree it's 40 minimum but 45+ is becoming more of the start of what people call "middle age". If I recall it was more commonly thought of as 35+ in the 1990s but not anymore.

But also not everyone agrees with where it starts and ends. To me it is 40 minimum but I generally think of it as 45+.

Not that it really matters.

And not to defend Linus but I think he looks fine, he looks youthful to me but then again most people in their 30s who don't let themselves go or didn't get unlucky with genetics do. He says and does annoying stuff but his appearance is pretty inoffensive. The earring is very gay though.
