that doesn't really explain anything

what i'm perplexed about is this: they have 100+ employees. they make, what, 25 videos a week? that's 4 people per video per week. seems like more than enough manpower to handle this properly, 4 guys working full time for a whole week should absolutelybe able to do a few hardware tests properly without massive time pressure due to deadlines.

if they can't do it in time without rushing and fucking up, then either their people are really incompetent, or their companys organisational structure is really really inefficient.
How do you even come up with original ideas for 25 videos per week without being fed product-placement ads disguised as original? That is not sustainable.

UPDATE

For full transparency, Linus contacted us this evening saying it's likely he can get the block back from the buyer.

We have declined this offer, and asked for the previously agreed monetary value instead for the following reasons:

  1. we have already spent a significant percentage of the value of the block in the last few days on replacement parts to build a new block, assuming we'd never see the original one again.
  2. we do not know if the original block is still in good working condition, and how much money will be needed to fix it if it's not.
  3. we don't know if any of the bespoke fittings are missing, each of these costs money to replace if they are.
  4. LTT have had our 3090ti without using it for 9 weeks, so we have lost confidence that they will return items quickly.
  5. LTT isn't currently in possession of the block, they've only said that they can get it back. We therefore don't know when we'd get it back, and time is of the essence.
  6. LTT has confirmed that the block is with a private individual rather than a rival company, so lost IP is much less of an issue.
We wanted to state this publicly just in case anyone has any issues with the fact that the block has potentially been found, and we chose to take the money instead. We hope you understand our reasoning here. We can have our new block that we're currently making ready in the next couple of weeks, and we are sceptical that we would have the original block back in fully working condition in that amount of time – it would be a gamble at the very least.

Steve's response to Linus' response shows the exact dynamic I mentioned in my post yesterday. Linus put out a statement that his simps would typically accept, because he knows that's the standard he is usually held to. When an outsider like Steve see it, he's astounded at how anyone could take it seriously.

If Linus' audience held him to the same level of accountability that Steve's audience does, he would know his response needed to be much better than "oops my bad, but really I'm the victim here".

You massively underestimate the absolute garbage waste of space that accumulates in a company with 100 employees, especially under this kind of leadership. Less than a quarter of these do actual fucking work. The rest are just parasites waiting for their troon-bucks..

Math doesn't quite work out to that since its less people actually working on videos directly or indirectly. Company that size has many people working Finances, PR, HR, Merchandise etc.

But regardless its still Linus fault for pushing the company to release more videos that they can actually handle without rushing them out and having no time to make them properly and no time to make corrections that aren't quick and dirty edits and comments.

I know there were legitimate concerns for reverse-engineering the prototype, so the buyer being a private individual may be a good thing (assuming the individual is not actually associated with a company and had failed to disclose that before buying it off of Linus, or had sold it to a rival company after the fact).

Also, I love how BL is pointing out how irresponsible LTT group is, with how they had a GPU for over 2 months without using it or returning the item. Good on BL for also recognizing that LTT's promises mean absolute shit and are asking for monetary compensation. BL most likely had more than enough grounds to sue for compensation (given the verbal and written communications expressing the conditions of use for the prototype), but that would have taken months and a lot of money.

The phrase "aggressive expansion" always reminds me of this scene, and the more I read this thread (newcomer, although when I was looking at getting a PC put together LTT came across my radar and I could tell he was a retard) the more I see the resemblance between this faggy leaf and Ledger's narcissistic, sociopathic Joker. Except the Joker's actually funny.
That's pretty unfair to the Joker. I'm no expert on comic books, but I did watch that movie some 10 years ago and I do recall his main motive was that he just enjoyed chaos and destruction, which is pretty fascinating. I also recall him burning a huge pile of money to prove the point that they where not doing it for the money.

Linus on the other hand is driven by some of the most boring and common things of all, laziness, hubris, and most of all, selfish greed.
The analogy starts and ends with the psychopathy, every other commonality I could think of is either banal or traits already covered by the psychopathy, such as narcissism and manipulation.

The start of middle age has crept up, generally people agree it's 40 minimum but 45+ is becoming more of the start of what people call "middle age". If I recall it was more commonly thought of as 35+ in the 1990s but not anymore.
that's just cope for aging manchildren tbh
everything 30+ is middle age, period

Math doesn't quite work out to that since its less people actually working on videos directly or indirectly. Company that size has many people working Finances, PR, HR, Merchandise etc.
a smaller size company would just have all that non video work done by the video people, leaving htem less time for their main work as a result.
larger company size means you get to do more division of labor, resulting in more efficiency, not less. that is, unless your corp structure is garbage with bloated management and inefficient processes everywhere, then you end up less efficient than a small team. that's probably the case with linus soy group.

Just watched the video and follow up - I don't know if "humbled" in the feature fully does the situation justice. Steve declared exterminatus and blasted Linus from orbit. I can't remember the last time I saw such a savage takedown. Unfortunately LTT's audience are mindless consumers and imbeciles so I'm sceptical about how damaging this will ultimately be.

No surprise that Linus "I have a million-dollar company but don't want to spend $500 to test things properly" Sebastian is flaking on the agreement to send Billet Labs the money they're owed. Although Billet really should get the block back just to make sure a competitor isn't reverse-engineering it.
They sent the waterblock with a graphics card. And still linus bitches about testing it right being too hard :story:
Not only that, but he didn't use the graphics card they gave and intentionally used it with an incompatible one. What an incompetent, lying piece of shit.

This is the most damning sentence. They have no confidence in his company to uphold.
