I was always kind of aware of LTT existing, but never made the effort to watch anything from them. Then, one day the almighty YT algorithm (hallowed be our AI overlords) recommended me their video on Temple OS. Having watched it, I got the same slimy infotainment sleaze vibe I did from people like Philip DeFranco or John Oliver and promptly decided they are not worth my attention. Watching GN go after them for their unethical behavior has been an absolute treat. All that dirt being presented in a neat little package, no flair or pomp, just the facts, really highlighted their scumminess.

I quite like and regularly watch GN. Their autistic attention to detail speaks to me on a deep level, much like trains. Remember boys and girls, if you are looking for a review\tutorial\whatever find the one that was done by a dork that looks like he could be the drummer of a semi well-known Norwegian death metal band. Never failed me.

He Denies he did anything wrong, Attacks Gamers Nexus for "not contacting him in private", then Reverses the Victim and Offender role by claiming that they're in the wrong by not playing by his rules. Of course, the fact that he decided to take criticism of his company as a personal attack is another example. Needless to say, I fully expect morale to take a complete nosedive at LMG after they realized their boss is a total prick who can't even return the 3090ti after auctioning off the prototype.

To the point that instead of showing off his new game live on stage at E3 (a huge fucking achievement for any indie dev), he had to waste his chance apologizing to the mob. His crime? His game is a cyberpunk dystopia... that's based on progressives going too far. The horde's stance is that left wing politics literally can not go too far and dystopias can only ever be right wing because right wing is, by definition, evil, and left wing is by definition good. Also, cyberpunk as a genre is owned by the radical left and thus he needed their permission to make a game in the genre. No, I'm not kidding.

How do you even come up with original ideas for 25 videos per week without being fed product-placement ads disguised as original? That is not sustainable.

I could probably manage that if I didn't have to work full-time to pay the bills. I do all sorts of fun (to me) and silly/stupid (to everyone else) stuff with random bits of tech and there's just so much esoteric stuff out there to play with on the cheap that it'd take a long time to "run out" of topics to cover. Ebay is a tinkerer's paradise. Even if something arrives DOA you can still have fun either trying to fix it or ripping it apart to see how it (should have) worked.

Of course, very little of it involves strictly "consumer-grade" hardware, but it's not like I'm paying "brand new" full price for any of it. I suppose that would limit such a channel's appeal though. Wouldn't attract many sponsors. HPE ain't sending $20k worth of fresh server hardware to some idiot with a server rack in a guest room and a Youtube channel with 100 subs.

For me Linus showed his cards when people started complaining about the misleading thumbnails with soyfaces and Linus made a response video basically saying “it is bad BUT it gives me more money.” And of course saying that it’s required because he pays people. And it’s not like he’d have to live in poverty if not for that. Why is it always quantity and not quality for those people.

The faces in the thumbnails is actually a Youtube problem not his alone, it was discovered that the youtube code has a thing for boosting videos with people making stupid faces on it, no one know exactly why but people point out that is probably because Mr Beast sheer numbers made the code prefer this kind of thumbnails

Steve's response to Linus' response shows the exact dynamic I mentioned in my post yesterday. Linus put out a statement that his simps would typically accept, because he knows that's the standard he is usually held to. When an outsider like Steve see it, he's astounded at how anyone could take it seriously.

If Linus' audience held him to the same level of accountability that Steve's audience does, he would know his response needed to be much better than "oops my bad, but really I'm the victim here".

It makes sense that he tailored the response for his fans, given that it was posted in the forums rather than as a video.

If he posted a response as a video, he would have to disable comments and he would be bombarded with video responses that would be directly linked to his video. If it's posted in the forums, his fans can ignore the nasty wasty Steve.

This is the most damning sentence. They have no confidence in his company to uphold.

Not only did they fail to find a 3090Ti to test with the waterblock, but one had been sent to them BY THE COMPANY.

There was that discussion that almost hit mainstream a while back about how all the biggest youtubers and streamers had contracts with the same talent agency. I remember Mr. Beast and Asmongold specifically being two of the personalities being called out for it.
