Ozymandias's plan to avert WW3 by scaring the US and USSR into cooperation to stop an alien threat they didn't expect could only work if nobody knew the truth. The other Watchmen chose to accept the sacrifice of millions of New Yorkers if it meant averting a greater disaster, but Rorschach refused to compromise his morals, forcing Dr. Manhattan to kill him outright because he was determined to tell the public the truth.

However, the journal he previously mailed to the New Frontiersman is still there waiting to be discovered, with the final frame of the comic hinting that the master plan that Ozymandias carried out might very well be undone. When paired with Dr. Manhattan's warning that "nothing ever ends," it creates a haunting ending. Reducing that ending to "lol neo-Nazi propaganda" does it a tremendous disservice.

I think it's because back then, most of my exposure to online reviewers was based on TGWTG or Red Letter Media, so the idea I had in my head is that the critic is always playing a character.
