For Islamic republics lgbt folk are equal-ish — wherever you are gay or hon doesn’t matter. Even homosexual males are unlikely to be thrown off of a roof. But they do risk getting severely beaten, and the police aren't going to help them if that happens. And physical violence easily escalates into murder, beating someone unconscious is distinct from beating someone to death mainly by sheer luck of the victim. For a pooner I imagine the biggest threat is kidnapping, forced marriage, or "corrective rape", which is as horrible as it sounds. But yes, she could also face physical violence or even getting murdered by a relative.

Dagestan is Russia proper. Even if she does live in ethnic Russia, it doesn't mean her family won't hurt her. It's all illegal, just difficult to enforce if it never gets reported or if the only people who can testify about it are people with good reason to lie. It does remove the risk of being randomly beaten by strangers, though. For all the headlines about "gay bashing in Russia" the west likes to publish, it's genuinely very rare. Cities like Moscow and Petersburg have many gay "night clubs" which operate openly and have done so for a long time, the government mostly just doesn't want them to have access to children, for good and hopefully obvious reasons. When things like "anti-gay pogroms" or "police detain dozens of men for being gay" happen, it's almost always in islamic dumps (specifically Chechnya, but Dagestan isn't much better).

Forced into a marriage she has no say in would be the usual. She says her uncle is an Imam so things have a chance to be pretty bleak, but her mother seems supportive and she somehow got test. Because the “trans” epidemic is adults/teens who were raised on videos. And I’m not just talking about TikTok and instagram reels. I’ve thought a lot about this because I have zoomer children and I employ mostly zoomers in the business I own. I get to see it first hand. Back in the early 2000’s videos were this cool new thing so teachers started implementing them in the classroom. That made the teachers really lazy and videos became the primary source of information. Now the kids are so addicted to their phones giving a reading assignment insures an 80%+ fail rate. These kids are being raised by spoken word alone, so their reading and writing skills are on par with a 3rd world country. If you want evidence of this, watch any of the videos Justin Awad posts on YouTube and TikTok. And those kids aren’t faking it. I’ve asked the same questions to zoomer kids in my life. Very few of them know the answers.

Russia is the most diverse country in the world, so it's small wonder. Exactly how many ethnic groups there are depends on who you ask but basically "almost two hundred". Petersburg is essentially a western city that happens to be located in Russia, it's an outlier even among the wealthy cities. But just the same chechnya and dagestan are extreme outliers in the other direction. You won't find many Russians who celebrate LGBT the way you would in the EU, but Russians who hate them to the point of violence are quite rare and fortunately mostly contained in areas civilised people can easily avoid, such as Chechnya.

The police will hassle the fuck out of you for spitting in public.
