My quick take it ISOM may need to be renamed, but Vito and Dick are just horrible people.My head hurts trying to parse all this shit. Is this an accurate summary?
- Eric July (aka Rippa), a libertarian black man who dabbles in various entertainment industries, most popular for his music, decides to put out a comic book line.
- The Rippaverse does gangbusters crowdfunding for the first few thing(s), something like $5 mil.
- He actually sends out one comic, in less than a year, thereby besting the bulk of comicsgate (and the bulk of self-published comics) in turnaround time.
- The first comic, ISOM #1, is mid-tier at best, but at least it doesn't have crippled retarded otherkin 5th genderfluid munchy ana-chans scissoring while complaining about the patriarchy and preaching about the virtues of communism.
- Vito, the previously self-professed pedo, a man about as funny as a moist towelette, decides he wants to do a comic.
- Does crowd-funding, doesn't even hit 6 figures USD.
- Has yet to deliver comic.
- At some point, a beef is invented between Vito and Eric, primarily from Vito and Dick Masterson (of Dr. Phil fame) (aka Dax Herrera, alias fursona of Juju the Cow).
- Retardation ensues. Eric July doesn't get that involved, so it's mostly nobodies trying to punch up.
- It appears that, not getting enough traction, Vito decides to try to derail Eric July by having others attack him.
- They find another holder of a trademark for the Rippaverse main character, ISOM.
- They somehow convince this Christian learning ministry that their trademark is being infringed and should sue.
- Vito appears to have done this from an alt email account which has previously been linked to him. (There is some debate about how connected the individual was who contacted Good Shepherd Industries; Vito denies it while Eric asserts it.)
- Dick goes on with Rackets and just laughs about the lawsuit, which is tipped off by someone in Balldoman's chat.
- Senor Nose claims to have watched Eric's response video, in which Eric claims a connection between the email to the Christian company and Vito. Balldoman says there is nothing there to prove a connection. Likely this is something that would have to be proved in court, if it comes to that, and that's Rackets' avenue to fence sitting. (In a saner world, it would be settled, and no one talks about it again.)
- After some back and forth, Eric replies with a "hey, my lawyers are dealing with it" response, like a grown adult.
It looks like there is overlap between the Rippaverse TM and ISOM's TM in the printed material, but would it cause confusion? If anyone were inclined to figure out who the person calling themselves Roy Gherbile in these emails is, there's a Kiwi/drama adjacent prank call community centered around a prank caller known as Dwight the Janitor. Dwight and his fans frequently target lolcows who have their numbers leaked like King Cobra, Cyrax, Chris Chan etc.
