That said... his sales numbers peaked damn near 15 years ago.

That kind of stuff was actually pretty funny at the time. A lot of it was context and when you look back at it it's now cringy, like '70s pictures of your parents wearing bell-bottom jeans, but while you might not be proud of it any more, there's no real reason to be ashamed of finding it funny at the time.
