The way they talk about "euphoria" really makes it sound like an addiction. I think there is a literal chemical addiction element to being trans that is underdiscussed. Namely the hormones which are mind-altering substances. But the real high seems to be gaining "euphoria" from seeking out situations that affirm their gender identity. I think this is why they are so hypersensitive to being reminded they are actually men. You're killing the high when you do that, it's like giving narcan to an opiod addict and bringing them back to Earth.
