It doesn't teach that, it's the opposite to where there's a word for it, Anatman or Anatta, meaning no-self. You are supposed to stop associating with any idea of self and recognize reality as a constellation of interdependence, where nothing exists independently of anything else.

It's an extremely confusing religion and not nearly as clear as Vedanta.

1) There is zero evidence that Siddhartha's teachings reached Nazareth in Jesus's time that I know of.

2) Buddhism and Christianity only seem similar if you have only a surface level familiarity with both. Jesus taught salvation through grace and through his sacrifice, that's got nothing to do with Siddhartha talking about ascending to a higher plane through an ascetic lifestyle.

3) Both taught an ascetic lifestyle abstaining from excessive indulgences. So has nearly every religion.

This theory is even dumber than the baseless theory that Atenism led to Abraham's monotheistic Judaism.
