I haven't regularly posted on 4chan in about half a decade. If I'm extremely bored or KF is down I might go to /v/ but immediately regret it. I spent about half a decade of my youth on 4chan back in the early 2010s. I'm just here to shit on it because I'm bitter I wasted so much time there.
I've left it. I visit 3 boards once a week. It's super bad and /pol/ is the absolute worst. 99% of the content there comes from tiktok twitter and reddit. 9gag has been better than most 4chan boards in almost every aspect for the past 2 years. Fucking 9gag.
Went to /tv/ to see what they think of the trailer for the new Ghostbusters movie(apparently it's the fourth one, didn't know they made a gay third one with the ghostbusters kids or whatever. The feminist one is thankfully non-canon). I saw a good thread in the catalog so I figured I would share it here
/tv/ can be based sometimes, good to see in these trying times.

I went on /v/ for the first time in a long time and it was literally just all the same obvious bad faith shit being thrown back and forth, I don't get how people aren't tired of it regardless of its success.
Thank god for smaller obscure image boards, it's crazy how simply having less people around so drastically improves a website. 4chan at its peak honestly deserved someone who cared about it, it was a great (in its own way) community at one point but now the majority of the users and staff are people who not only didn't experience that time but actively hate it, 4chan is almost like the America of websites in a way.
I think it's addiction. Because of the temporary nature of imageboards with most threads on major boards only staying up for a few hours people feel like they don't want to miss out on "good" threads so they keep coming back despite not actually enjoying the site anymore. You have people who haven't actively enjoyed the site in years who just come back out of habit.

Easy to break that habit by simply not going there. I make it a simple rule to ignore 4chan unless I am looking for something in particular or there is a happening, Doubtful that I am missing out on anything too interesting, and even then there is archives.

Alt imageboards are dead as of now, there is so little activity on them that they simply don't matter and there is often than not internal or external drama within them. Only good alt imageboard these days is the sharty and even that one is a powder keg of drama. The Webring after 8chan's death had a chance to resurrect the spirit of that site and bring back refugees, but it didn't quite work. In fact, one imageboard in particular became a lolcow in it's own right and got it's own thread. 4chan is still the best imageboard if you're just looking to fuck around or find something interesting, any successful alt imageboards would have to be really niche to provide what 4chan doesn't and even then you have the traffic issue.
I know it goes against the idea of 4chan's core concept of temporariness, but I find it more enjoyable to search the archives with specific keywords or word combinations for intriguing posts or threads, rather than wading through a live, unending stream of garbage hoping that someone else will post something interesting or intelligent.

I open it up every few months, generally finding absolutely nothing of worth. Other than a couple generals on /ck/ there's nothing there any more. I went to /b/ a couple years ago to find literally nothing but cuck porn, rate my dick, log posts, and utterly worthless shit like that. I mean /b/ was never good but there used to be some funny shit there.
I'd also sometimes check /pol/ for a schizo take on some news story, but we generally have an equally autistic but better thread on A&N, as bad as it is. And again, the tranny jannies let it continually get raided with cuck porn spam and similar shit. But don't fuck with /tttt/. Assholes.
The herd was right, /intl/ tried to warn you altchans were just going to wind up becoming a hotbed for coomers, pedophiles and unfunny retards but nobody wanted to acknowledge it so now the concept's practically dead due to a lack of conscious objection and gatekeeping letting nothing but those groups thrive. The grass in the yard is no more, now everyone gets to graze on the bitter weeds.

Real problem is that nobody wanted to unite, everybody wanted their own slice of the pie and each one of these retards thought they knew better and/or would become the next moot/hotwheels. Turns out constant division and shit flinging ended up with everyone leaving for greener pastures, be it 4chan/kiwi farms/sharty or even social media. The last few remaining refugees are the most retarded ones, plenty of milk from them if you know where to look.
Hate to say it, but at this point, discord trumps 8chan. Without a united community, all you have left are highly specific boards, and if you're looking for a niche topic you might as well create a centralized circlejerk you can invite people to and moderate at your own whims. 8chan.moe's gamergate general and alogs.space internet blood sports general are a good example of what is essentially just a discord server in an imageboard format anyways. 8channers will never unite, and you can ask Josh how starting his own imageboard from scratch worked, hence why 4chan is still a decent alternative even in it's current form.

/b/ is like an elderly family member you once deeply loved that is suffering from dementia and isn't the same person you knew. Everytime you visit you just leave saddened and want to forget about it. Any of the charm and creativity it once had was is long gone. The "final boss of the internet" has been reduced to a porn dumping with little if any actual banter and trolling that made it famous. Considering there are a good dozen other boards for porn, /pol/ for racism and /r9k/ for off topic stuff /b/ has no real reason to even exist in 2023. Why even go to /b/ now when you can go to the dozen others that do what /b/ does better?
Here's you average /pol/, /v/, /int/ thread these days.
And before you think it's unmoderated, the tranny mods deleted several other threads, while this was left up with 400 replies all day.
They even cleaned up like 100 shitposts in that thread, for free.
3 inch rugga or some other sad dickless existence is a mod there.
And to be honest, even plebbit has more intelligent discussion.
Those faggots spam their racebait tiktok garbage 24/7 without ever getting a ban, you really have to be brain damaged to reply to the exactly same threads everyday...

The racebait stuff is posted by tranny discords that groom kids, they also bait underage users into joining their discords and then "pinkpill" them by blackmailing the users into transitioning. Mods are compromised trannies, pajeets and feds so they don't do anything about this, it's been this way for some time now.
Especially true for /v/ and /tv/, finding the one good thread that's not just shitting on eachothers tastes in every post was an arduous task on either board 10 years ago already, i don't even want to know how bad it is in present day.
