I realized what the absolute worst change has been: Nick started believing he was funny.

Nick used to be situationally funny. He had the wit to jump on an opportunity and make people laugh. He's absolutely incapable of being intentionally funny though.

Thats not a bad thing. I'm the exact same way. I make people laugh all the time, but if I TRIED to make people laugh I would bomb and fail and bomb. The difference is I recognize that and I don't try.

Nick is a prime example of what happens when you don't have that self awareness. It's cringe, it's unfunny, and it's hard to watch. He desperately tries to fit in one-liners whenever he can instead of just letting the conversation flow.
