I agree he was* pretty funny, even if I never followed his stuff too close. I read his first book, back in the day, but it was mostly stuff directly from his site. And I even thought his movie wasn't terrible, being based on a mashing together of his stories.

If you accept going in that its a low budget vanity project, its not a bad watch, but its certainly nothing to get excited about. If you went in expecting Hollywood budget and high production values, you probably should have known better. Dude barely got it finished, if I recall. But I only saw it once, long ago and drunk, and could be giving it more than its fair due, tbh.

He's completely changed again - he went from sex stories in the mid- to late-2000s to relationship advice (probably what we'd call PUA/Red Pill now) in the late 2000s-early 2010s to paleo evangelist in the mid-2010s. Somewhere in there he tried to create a network called Rudius or Ruidus media; details are next to none except for a few Twitter randos claiming the network was failing because the setup made no sense and Tucker Max was too butthurt by it to even comment.

This brings us to his new site, where the tagline reads "Tucker Max discusses his experiences going from a legendary and reckless partier to a husband, father of four, and Texas rancher; the archive I took was the first since 2019 so I couldn't tell you when exactly he made the change. The articles on there are a weird mix of slice-of-life, business advice, relationship advice, doomer/prepper, gun stuff, and psychedelics. Oh and it's lousy with Google Ads.

I don't know who the target demo for this is because I can't envision the kind of person who is into most or all of these topics - why would I take business advice from a man who thinks the world might end in a month or two? What I do know is that when a man rewires his entire personality 4 times in 15 years, I'm probably dealing with a con man who doesn't believe a word of it and will change when the money dries up or the pressure gets too much. This goes double when he wasn't a kid still figuring things out when he wrote those sex stories, he was 30.

He had a few good stories in a giant pile of terrible ones from what I recall - his best writing was near the start of his e-fame, he couldn't keep making good material to stay relevant, so he just threw whatever he had at the wall from there. From what I remember the book he wrote in ~2012 included random stories from his life that happened to involve a woman or alcohol because he figured anything with his name on it would sell. One of them even flat out said "Is it egotistical to write about something this trivial? Yeah but I can do it because I'm a bestselling author and anyways, joke's on you because you paid for this book".

I hate to be that guy but can someone give a quick summary of the situation for those of us unfamiliar? I know of Masterson and I know of Maddox but other then that I have no clue what's going on.
