I have a different take than some of yall. I think Melina did love Destiny and tried to make it work for a while.
Last year, I remember watching a stream where she asked Destiny when he was gonna give her a child and it was clear they’d talked about this before, with Destiny putting the breaks on it/making it clear he had no plans to anytime soon.
She was upset when she found out about the affair w/Lauren Southern. And it was obvious from her behavior she would have preferred a monogamous relationship w/Destiny, but knew Destiny wouldn’t do that, so she did the open relationship, but it’s obvious that was more of what he wanted than her - she made all these rules for the open relationship for him to follow (he must tell her at least 24 hours in advance, she had to approve of her and just a whole bunch of other rules) and she’d sometimes message the girls he was gonna hook up with to trash Destiny/dissuade them from hooking up. Don’t yall remember that stream they did earlier this yr where they were arguing because Melina was mad that Destiny would lie to her about his hookups (he stopped telling her because, too often, she’d act some kind of way)? They argued about how Melina had a rule that Destiny couldn’t hook up w/anyone unless Melina also found someone to hook up with for the night. Destiny complained she never goes looking for anyone and Melina said it’s hard for her to find someone she likes. Destiny then explained that that’s why he lies to her about his hookups, that he can’t be waiting around forever for her to find a guy dhe actually wants hook up with. She’d also freak out if he didn’t come home at night. Ok? All of this tells me that, for most of their relationship, she loved this man. she put up with Destiny’s complete lack of emotional availability and all the other things that come w/being in a relationship with Destiny because she moved to another country to be with him and wanted to make it work. But deep down, this was not the type of relationship was she wanted, but she did her best to adapt because Destiny was the man she wanted. Then, she goes to Sweden and meets this guy who she is not only attracted to, but is able to provide her with the type of relationship she wanted. She’s loving it, spending all this time w/him and then he tells her she has to leave Destiny for them to make it work. Meanwhile, Destiny (who’s already been sensing some distance from Melina the last couple months) hears about this and also gives her an ultimatum to either stop seeing this guy or their marriage is over….and Melina chose this new guy in Sweden.
I don’t think this has anything to do with a green card lol. It’s not like she’s from the Dominican Republic, she’s from Sweden, FFS lol, a first world country in Western Europe, she could have moved here on her own if she wanted to. And she wouldn’t have chosen this guy in Sweden if this was about wanting to live in America.
Interestingly, I think Destiny is actually hurt/sad about this breakup. The “I had sex w/10 ppl today and it’s amazing…” is cope, he feels sad/rejected and is seeking validation/trying to convince himself he’s happy to be free. I don’t think he’s ever been dumped before, I think he’s usually the 1 to do the dumping and so this is new for him. He’s coping. I’m sure he’ll move on, tho, he said he’s never gone a month being single since he was 17, which tells me he’s the type that can’t stand to be single, so I’m not surprised he’s already got someone new lined up that’s now been staying in his apt for 10 days.
