If Fishtank continues to grow there will always be fans competing. It's unreasonable to expect otherwise. The fish shouldn't have to lie or withhold the fact that they're fans. It's common for Big Brother and Survivor contestants to be superfans of the show and you will often hear them talking about prior seasons while strategizing with other players. Jet and Sam told the season 2 fish to pretend like they didn't know what was going on, basically lying to to audience, and it backfired. Jet Netfag sucks.

I agree with this statement completely, however this wasn't the first mention of season one by a long shot. Every fish talked about season one at one point. Day 5 was one big circle jerk about season one including mentions of Letty and her psycho ex. Even the night before Cole got eliminated Jimmy was sulking in his room talking about Jon and comparing him to Cole.

There seems to be a conflicting story here. Either Cole was eliminated for talking about season one which would be hypocritical since he wasn't the only contestant to do it or he was eliminated for another reason entirely and cannot or will not say.
Cole was kicked specifically for mentioning Nina (Letty's real name). He had done it once before but it doesnt look like production noticed the first time.

However anyone feels about anything right now, one thing is clear. Production is abysmal at retention.
To be fair part of this shows what’s wrong with these people. It seems that the money isn’t even a motivator. They all believe they’re going to spin this into a new career. How many of last seasons fish are paying all their bills with Fishtank career money? Is it only Josie?

I'd say they are terrible at reading the room. They pushed it too far instead of cooling it off. It was clear that Cole was singled out and they needed to help him rebuild bridges. They had no issue doing cooldown days but when they needed it they decided to push it.
Nevermind.. did he say why?
He was kinda in a Jon situation where he assumed he was the essential star of the show and could do anything and decide to not do some stuff.
He said Letty's real name.

They don't even all remember the grand prize amount. Production picked some morons.

I'm not sure that's the case.

Josie has virtually no bills, but yes. The whole thing about Fishtank pulling anyone out of "wageslavery," as Jet says, is pathetic. Josie "lucked out" by living with her parents and having few-to-no obligations. She can leave on a moment's notice and everything in her life will be as it was when she returns. Not many have that luxury.

It’s strange, the gaslighting/manipulation tactics seemed a bit more subtle in the early days but over the last several days they’ve gone back to season 1 hamfisted forced interaction. Did they panic because one of the most active fish left (Summer), or did they panic because everyone realized they all knew about season 1? Something changed, and I don’t think it was just fish leaving.

He literally said on stream that he was told to pack his stuff.
No, he said he was kicked off for mentioning Season 1. I'm pretty sure he didn't specifically say anything about Letty being the reason he was kicked off.

He said Letty's real name.
I don't think this is really the big deal people make it out to be. For one, they would have eventually heard about him saying it the first time days ago even if they didn't see it live to begin with.

Nevermind.. did he say why?

Based on what Cole said after leaving, it sounds like Sam had a roid rage incident after Cole pointed out that they were lazily lifting bits from the previous season and also trying to force S2 contestants into the boxes of S1 contestants (though it's funny he didn't realize he was supposed to fill the Letty role, not the Jon one).

That made the awkward silence after that TTS even more hilarious.

The alternative is that Cole actually did quit but he agreed to make it sound like he was kicked off for the purposes of the show saving face.
