It makes sense that self-declared women would gatekeep women's spaces. Their entire claim to them belonging in those spaces is that they also claim to be women. Cross-dressers don't identify as women. So if cis cross-dressers are allowed in women's spaces, it could be seen to de-legitimise the trannies. If everyone's allowed in the women's changing room, including men, then they are no different from the men.
It's a similar concept to how truscum trannies have been gatekeeping transness from non-binaries and 'tucutes' for a while now. It makes intuitive sense. When trans people run the gamut from near-passable Blaire White types to more obvious fakes with neopronouns and catgender pride flags, certain members of the former group feel the inclusion of the latter group within the trans umbrella can be seen to de-legitimise the 'true' trans people.
They want to keep out the people who make their group look bad. Trans rights activists disowning CWC also comes to mind.

Social pressure forces girls and women to learn to cope and shower anyway, but since boys and men generally get more allowances for being stinky, it leads to some of them getting incredibly rank, especially when they leave home and their parents are no longer there to make them follow basic hygiene. It took a while, but my housemate finally got the message that when I suggest that he takes a shower and relax, it means that he needs to take a fucking shower.
It's also linked to ADHD, which does have a high co-morbidity with autism. In the case of people with adhd it has to do specifically with the dramatic change in sensation that happens when they get wet.
I was part of a Twitter conversation once that basically everyone with adhd said they have to talk themselves into getting into the shower, but once they are there they love it. So much so that they then have to talk themselves into getting out, again because of the change in sensation, this time how you still feel slightly damp after drying off mostly because of the wet hair. Once they're dressed, even if the hair is still wet, they feel fine again. Then the feelings of shame kick in, why am I such a freak I know I always feel better after a shower type thoughts.

Makes you wonder just how many men have used "actually I'm non binary" as a cheat code to get access to spaces that are for women and "NBs" only. It seems to be this category that anyone can identify into so what's stopping the tall bearded ripped guy from becoming a they/them to get away with degenerate behaviour? The obvious answer would be to separate by biological sex and word it in a way that appeases the pronoun police (like saying AFAB only) but even then there's still bound to be someone who'll make a stink.
While I don't see asking for a female driver specifically on a rideshare app as a big deal, I can understand why some people might, but in any situation it doesn't make sense to lump ordinary women in with men who think their special labels and pronouns are more important than the fact they have a dick (and unlike the significant amount of women identifying as NB who seem desperate to get their tits and nipples cut off, the vast majority of men with this label don't seem to want any kind of surgery and are content simply wearing some makeup and maybe a dress or skirt).
