General GunTuber thread

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Double Tap's 220gr is moving at 1450fps for 922ft/lbs of energy and 30+ inches of penetration. I wanna say the 190 and 200gr full power FMJs only penetrate about 22-25 inches.
I’d be curious what powder they are running and how far beyond SAAMI acceptable pressures they have gone. 200gr at 1200fps will about peg SAAMI pressure specs. Either that or they are testing it out of a 6-8” barrel.

10mm 180gr FMJ at 1250fps will get more then 20” of penetration in gel. I wouldn’t be surprised to see 30”

I know Winchester came out with some SJHP stuff for bears a couple of years ago. They were claiming 20+” of penetration with some expansion. Box says 1175 fps with a 200gr bullet out of a 5” barrel. I would be curious to see what “some expansion” actually looks like.

I know it sounds kinda gay, but Paul's last video has been a kick in the guts for me, I was enjoying a comfy vacation with my mom and my 6 year old niece in a hotel and seeing that video made me very sour in the middle of it.

I don't know if there's any relation because I honestly get very sad when even old people in my neighborhood pass, maybe it's because I don't like being reminded the passage of time, that we don't have much time left, that when they go, all their stories, memories, are all gone, forever.
There was this cabin my family sometimes goes in the winter with their old college year friends, and the owner's father in law was this cool, bright 80 year old man with a cool carved cane he made it himself, and I would spend the entire afternoon drinking beer and standing near the bbq fire we would made just listening to his stories.

I can honestly say since I found his channel in the mid 2010s, that I watched at least one video of his a day, I even put it on backgrounds while doing the dishes or walking and shit because I honestly enjoyed his voice and the anecdotes he would tell us.

I also loved how he didn't give a shit in productions quality, editing or wearing body armor and helmets and tactisperg gear when you only need a shirt and a old ass hunting jacket to keep it clean to tell a story or discuss facts while standing up in a gun range.

Here's their 200gr. I've always found their box numbers to be accurate.

Now that I can't find their 220gr, I might have listed the specs of their 10mm magnum load.

I don't think you have to worry about sounding gay cause you're bummed about a good guy dying of pancreatic cancer, it's brutal. Paul's one of the good ones, and as much as I detest people like Karl and MAC I still wouldn't wish this upon them. Seems like the best guys I've ever known whether they're content creators or some of the old dogs in my community, they always die hard like this while the losers and shysters just seem to live forever.

Always loved Paul. Beyond his gun videos I don't know a lot about the guy, admittedly. I hope that he has trusted the Lord Jesus Christ as his savior, though. I hope that his brother is able to put forward some good stuff, but I think that Paul's catalog over the years will be sufficient for all of my firearm needs. Still sucks seeing someone succumb to disease that you would think is impervious or invincible.
I had an ND like that once too, I didn't even think it happened until I noticed the smell. No ringing, didn't hear it really. It's not like what you'd expect when you don't see it coming. The ear got 'better' but it's still 'off'. I wish suppressors were easier to get, it's insane that the government wants you to get damage in a defense situation.

I think everyone that shoots a lot will have an ND or something like this happen at some point, just keep the rule where you always point in a safe direction in mind, and it isn't the end of the world. Still embarrassing and will do some damage though.
Don't feel bad, they've happened to me a few times
>At friends apartment at college.
>Just bought my first pistol from a gun show (I was 18)
>Drinking with friends
>Show them my new Jericho
>Try to manually decock
>Thumb slips on hammer, ND into celling Upstairs neighbors too high and drunk (underage and illegal drugs) to call the police.

Second time
>At range
>Showing friend pistol
>Think gun is unloaded
>Point at ground show him how to wrack and pull the trigger.
>Forgot loaded mag in
>Shoot between his feet

Third time
>At parents house.
>Just bought a sig from a guy
>Get home
>Try swapping slides with another sig I had
>Forgot the other sig slide was chambered.
>Pull trigger
>Shoot parents wall

Fourth time
>At my new house
>Playing with a friend's 5.56 AK
>Release bolt
>Slam fires round into ground

Fifth time
>Showing a friend how to use it
>No idea how but a round got chambered
>Show him how the trigger works
>Pull trigger
>Shoots round into floor in the same place as before

Sixth time
>Thought maybe the house was haunted
>Grab a sig
>Physically clear it, (racked the slide 3 times) with no magazine in pull trigger at the same hole
>Round goes off

Seventh time
>Friend brings over a used
>Glock wants me to look over it
>I grab it and pull the trigger without clearing it
>Didn't even realize the thing was loaded.

Eighth time
>Friend brings over his transferable Mac 10
>I had no idea how open bolt guns worked.
>He's showing it off to me I put a loaded mag it and decided to try and release the bolt (I thought it shot from a closed bolt)
>Pulled the trigger for some reason
>Shot 3 rounds into my wall

Ninth time
>At the range target shooting
>Keep missing furthest target
>Seen operators stabilize with forearm
>Try it
>Sharp pain right after i pulled the trigger
>Still missed the target

Overall you shouldn't feel too bad about NDs. It's part of owning guns, and you should get used to them.

May his remaining time on this mortal plane be a peaceful one. I'm thankful for the edutainment he's provided.

By far my favorite Paul moment is the revolver in bed scenario. That entire video was just pure goodness, but him going the extra mile to put on pajamas and get a bed out on the range was exactly the kind of effort I had come to expect from him.
His Miami Shootout video was good stuff

Love Paul's videos. He brings a lot to the table that the tactical dude bros don't. His vast knowledge of LE history and how it effected procedure and cartridge loading, and military service combined with experience as a firearms instructor and competition shooting is a breadth of on the job experience that is going to be hard to find. plus, i never felt that he was trying to sell me something (like most other channels).

I wish his brother all the success in the world.

I mean, it was kinda known the minute he talked about it. Doesn’t mean he’s a leftoid.

Considering he has burnt all the bridges he could with Russia and that there is a rising amount of shitty jokes about the Russkies in his recent videos (yes Ian, I notice when you keep using "Russian" instead of Soviet - a thing that a pseudo-historian should know - and blabbering about "pistols developed to shoot people in the back of the head" and "disposable conscripts sent to die") his position should not be in doubt. He must have run some numbers and the NAFO crowd must be profitable, probably they participate in the "buy a mug to get a Soviet Russian weapon" contests a lot.

He can honestly have all the opinions he wants, his channel, but fucking fuck the fucking mugs and mousepads.

Having taken fire from the nutty left wing for the last year for not joining Karl's silly crusades, it's fun that Ian is now pissing off the nutty right wing by openly opposing Russian foreign policy/Putin. Not only is this not an extreme position in the US but it's one he's made clear before.

He's not particularly politically ambiguous. It's just that his videos about guns are largely apolitical.

How did we go from making fun of Russians being a national past time to this dumbfuck situation where openly stating you don't like Russia's military adventurism immediately has you lumped in with the kiddy-diddlers and dick-choppers? No matter how shit you think our government is or how far the West has fallen (and how many billions must die), it doesn't make Russia any better. Or Ukraine, for that matter, as CRP has found out after far too much fucking around.

Ian was talking shit about the Soviet/Russian government and armed forces long before the Special Blyat Operation started. He clearly respects their gun designers and engineers (and was in good terms with Max Popenker) and likes checking out Russian guns when he gets the chance, but I don't remember him ever displaying much love for that nation. None of this is new.

But yes, the sponsorships are getting annoying. I guess either his Patreon isn't earning him as much as he wants (adsense has definitely dropped like a rock for almost everybody now Google can't get easy money anymore), or he's worried that it will get canceled by Patreon's administration sooner or later, or (and I think this is the most likely) he's pumping way too much money into that History of Weapons & War streaming service and it's just not paying for itself.

I think Ian is threading a fine needle, people watch his content for the guns and the story behind them, not modern politics, 95% of gun owners/enthusiasts don't want to have modern neoliberal politics shoved in their faces when they already have Netflix and 98% of cable tv to keep shoving that propaganda into their faces.

Also, knowing from experience with retarded Brazilians who are apolitical in their videos but woke as fuck on twitter, that never ends well, never.

Inb4 tin foil hat, but I'm getting more and more "this feels like it's pushing into one direction kinda vibe" from the big big gun channels, they all got almost the same fucking script, try hard gear, milquetoast sanitized patriotic slightly right wing memes, even the lighting and color palette used.

I wonder if I'm seeing the corpo/fed takeover of this space in real time, we only need more backwards baseball cap mid 30s roided vets with shitty tattoos to shill for shrooms and cry about how china/Iran/Russia is funding Tik Tok to drive recruitment levels down.

If I was Ian, and I had two halves of a fanbase that hate each other and my book that I was gonna sell to the one got ÜberCanceled and my Russian friends don't talk to me anymore, I might as well put on a NAFO badge and sell to the people still around.

I have to assume there was some pretty serious drama to ax a book as far into development as Popenker's book on automatics was.

It's not pretty, but it probably is good business.
