My scheming enemies always think of everything in their stupid plans!have targeted at least one lawmaker (conservative Rep. Marjorie Taylor-Greene, who was presumably chosen to counter allegations that KF was a right-wing forum)
lol calm downThe site is KiwiFarms, which exists solely for the purpose of killing trans people, and also sometimes disabled people, making it lethally risky for transgender or disabled people to be seen or heard on the Internet.
Holy shit, I would have died if I drank for anti-free-speech bingo on that first paragraph, but she's so dense she put this second paragraph including that last sentence right after it.The existence of sites like KiwiFarms — or the proliferation of hatemongers on Substack, or Donald Trump using his Twitter account to instigate a coup, or GamerGate, or Pizzagate, or any subsequent -Gates, or QAnon, or, really, name your example here — put the lie to the free-speech libertarianism of the early Internet. The Internet gives everyone a voice, at least in theory, but some people use their voices to shout “fire” in a crowded theater. “Good speech” cannot balance “bad speech” when the bad speech is fascist, because fascists use violence or the threat of violence to silence their targets.
It is also true that our legislative system has a limited imagination. It exists to preserve the system we already have, and that system does not value everyone’s life equally. So, instead of strategizing against the imminent threat caused by hate groups, the would-be moral guardians of the Internet are figuring out how to get rid of trans people, though KOSA, or sex workers, through FOSTA-SESTA — not meaningfully challenging oppression, but making it harder for certain oppressed groups to strategize, share information, or counter establishment narratives through their speech.
Sady, Jude, darling, idiot, abject moron, "making it harder for certain oppressed groups to strategize, share information, or counter establishment narratives through their speech" is the only thing the state can and will do and is what you're explicitly asking for. Your false fire in a crowded theater analogy was originally used as justification to suppress anti-slavery and anti-war speech. Your "bad speech is fascist" argument was originally used by Marcuse (and Stalin) to argue for permanent violence by the state against anyone who disagrees with it.
You're calling for fascist violence (while shouting "fascists" in a liberal democracy), you just want it directed at, to put in your language, The Other different from you. You're blasting past the "paradox of intolerance" to permanent enforced intolerance. If it didn't amuse me, I'd tell you to stop trying to roll back the Enlightenment and bring back the Church.
