Naruto/Boruto Griefing Thread

I feel like One Piece is effectively just Oda having fun. You’re there to see him eventually have Luffy find the One Piece (and destroy the United Nations because Luffy hates the Anti-Christ).

Naruto had a very interesting world. It’s not wholly original if you watched trends at the time it was being made. Shit like Ninja Scroll, Ninja Gaiden, and other Ninja stuff was popular.
Shit like Zabuza and countries hiring what are effectively a Nation-State PMC to do wet work was cool.

It really would've been better if it stuck to the tone and atmosphere of part 1.
i love ninja jesus as much as the next guy but my suspension of disbelief was more than broken by the end of 2

Part 2 throws away a lot of the cool shit from 1 and just adds in a lot of Uchiha melodrama. It’d would be cool if you had Sasuke being pursued by people from the village, the Hinata-Bug guy- dog guy combo seemed like it would’ve been ideal for that.

Him being hunted for days without rest would’ve probably served as a good call-back to the first arc.

let's not get crazy
Yu Yu Hakusho is at least a complete product that didn't shit the bed. I know HxH definitely does not deserve that, but well, none of Kishimoto's other efforts have achieved anything and Narito shit the bed half way through
I don't think praise should be given for production if the product itself is subpar. Loved early One Piece. I'm weirdly nostalgic for it, but it reuses the same overall plot structure for damn near every arc after a certain point. By the time of Thriller Bark, I just wanted things to end. Marineford, in hindsight, is a big heap of nothing. Just a bunch of fights and characters. The overall arc for that just dragged on and on. Timeskip killed what interest I had left. Pop in from time to time, and it seems to have only gotten worse, albeit with far more clear direction.
I'm a OP fan and I can very much admit that it's formulaic as fuck and it doesn't leave things breathe anymore since it needs to be at a constant top speed if it hopes to end any year soon
Kubo kuboing, though I'm amazed he's getting a resurgence of sorts recently.
Remember when people thought this would be the best thing ever? I love how that ended up.
Was one of those suckers, what a spectacular way to fuck it up.
Kurapika just stops existing after Yorknew City until Togashi remembers he can use him with Gon on a bench.
what a wonderful wish-granting sister killua has
HxH is such an incomprehensible mess now, the whole who is jewing who in the ship, the spiders fucking around there and only Kurapika from the "main characters" after he was completely out of the picture for like a decade. HxH should just be a fucking short novel where Togashi dictates from his death bed to a ghost writer.

Based laughing god!

Naruto had potential, but it was half baked as fuck. Kishi never thought too much on how the world actually worked outside of spergy cursed kid in ninja village. Samurai and actual kingdoms came in waaaay too late into the equation and they seem like fucking chumps anyway. End game Naruto and Sasuke could conquer anything.

Kishi always seemed like he wanted a happy go lucky sort of deal with some heartfelt moments. Basically, he never had it in him to do a dark and seedy story like what keeping with the atmosphere and Zabuza and Haku would have demanded.

OH MY DEMON ANCESTORS

(rest of these are in order of quotes because they're giving me quote cancer)
I can't blame you because I liked One Piece for quite a bit of its run time.
People pretending Bleach wasn't the carrot-headed stepchild of the big 3 was the funniest shit
Just seemed way too generic to me and it rushed right into a tournament arc for its very first instead of giving one to build up the setting

First part of Naruto is PG-13. Even bordering on R rated stuff with Orochimaru, Zubuza, Gaara, Itachi, and a few other storylines. You had child soldiers, mass murders and genocide, demonic possession and monsters, blood sacrifices, perpetual war, gladiator games with children. It was brutal. Chuunin Exam is sending children to be slaughtered. Orochimari has kidnapped children to torture and experiment on them and the Hokage still can't bring himself to kill his favorite student. Naruto is an orphan and child soldier. Gaara is a child soldier from birth who cannot sleep.

By the time the story ends practically every character is redeemed for the audience so that they can sell more t-shirts and toys. Battles are won without blood and gore and sometimes won with just talking. Practically everyone becomes a 'good guy' including people that seemed impossibly irredeemable. I remember when Gaara was redeemed I rolled my eyes because I knew that everyone would be redeemed in the end. Itachi being a good guy was telegraphed and became very obvious as well.

Gaara's redemption didn't really bother me since he never chose to be a monster. Now Orichmaru's redemption and Sasuke just being forgiven for all his various war crimes at the end was all very frustrating.

Kishimoto is a sweetheart at heart.

And by sweetheart, I mean retard. Also, a subpar writer, but I'd be repeating myself.

Started off well, ended poorly. It went from ninja stuff with some magic on the side to Not-Dragonball where they were dropping meteors out of the sky. Fucking absurd.

To save you 200 chapters, this is how the main characters level up:

Naruto: "I train really hard and stumble along the way, but through sheer attrition I'm getting stronger!"
Sasuke: "i have magic eyes"
Repeat ad nauseum.

Sasuke not being killed at the end and pairing up with Sakura - whom he was prepared to filet for his ambitions - also felt like a pathetic cop out.

Never picked up Boruto, all I know is there's aliens (and that's all I really need to know).

It's because his products post Bleach official ending were fantastic. CFYOW is great. The anniversary Hell Chapter is probably the best thing Kubo has written in a long time.

It is but in hindsight, I think it aged very well and second read throughs and watchings really brought it out.

I actually don't like OP, I like reading manga, not watching anime. Reading OP is a fucking chore.

I just wish Hinata did more. Sakura for as useless as she was still has some cool moments. She at least TRIES to be useful. Hinata...yeah she gets nothing.

I was fine with Orochimaru's redemption. By the time he showed up in the Itachi fight, I was so fucking sick of him that I was glad to watch him get tossed aside in a matter of seconds. Him taking a back step and not being a primary antagonist was fine. He's a convenient plot tool and Kishi needed it.

And that's my issue it's just a convenient plot tool. That snake jew should be dead.

Yeah.....but he was still an unstable psychotic monster. They even turned the demonic monster into a plushy toy to sell more chink made merchandise to children. For his entire life Gaara is an out of control walking murder machine. He kills for fun. One conversation with Naruto and he changes his entire life and conquers the centuries old demon inside of him that the entire Sand Village was unable to do. It was unearned and ridiculous, and it also telegraphed that now every single character was going to get redeemed. And that the show was being made for children.

Imagine at the end of Silence of the Lambs or Se7en that the serial killers are redeemed instead and the police become their friends. And people just magically forget about all the murders that they did. "Yeah Buffalo Bill used to wear human skin but now he's one of the good guys". "Oh yeah Gaara killed hundreds of innocent people and kept their blood on him in the sand......but that was last year he's over that now".

Even more convenient, and this was another horrible aspect of Naruto once the corporate suits got a hold on the franchise, was that almost no one would ever die on the show in battle. When Gaara's siblings and the Leaf Ninjas fight in the first half of the show pretty much no one dies. In this great invasion and battle practically no one of consequence dies. Because Gaara's siblings being killed would ruin his redemption arc. But even worse is that all of the Sand Ninjas are exonerated because they were all manipulated by Orochimaru. So they all get to become good guys in the literal next arc. But even Orochimaru is redeemed in the end. No one is bad anymore. Sell more toys.

To be fair Naruto kicked his ass something fierce and he was genuinely fearing for his life for the first time when Naruto was crawling towards him. Plus he had that whole mental breakdown....

And that the show was being made for children.
It IS made for children.

You forgot the part where it went

Naruto: "Turns out my dad is a hotshot hokage and my mom is a super special mega awesome lineage to hold X tailed beasts. Also, every time I give a sappy speech after punching them, the big bad relents."

What is CFYOW? and the Hell chapter is the one with Rukia and Ichigo's kid fucking around while some weird shit with old dead captains happened? Seemed to be setting up a whole new follow up series, but seemed to never go anywhere.

We all laugh at how that turned out but damn near every other shounen is the exact same at this point. Luffy's a god, Goku's from possibly the strongest races to ever exist that can achieve god ki, and Ichigo is literally everything. The Japanese are schizophrenic as fuck about the whole genetics are destiny and hard work stuff. And I do know that is not at all what Naruto and Neji were fighting about. Fuckers can't help themselves.

It just seems at a certain point either a shounen protagonist will become a god or be some sort of chosen one.

It's supposed to, it probably will someday. Can't Fear Your Own World is a light novel that *sort of* fixes a lot of Thousand Year Blood War. It gives a lot of context to the overall story of the arc. It fleshes out a lot of Ywach's motives. Gives some closure to certain characters. Kubo always wanted the Soul Society to be this kind of Necessary Evil thing and while they might be good, they do a lot of fucked up things. CFYOW puts it front and center. The reality about the Soul King and even down to Ichigo just paints the upper echelon as some really evil bastards.

The anime when they started doing TYBW had to integrate parts of CFYOW, so it's possible a lot of the twists and things CFYOW reveals will be in the anime. So I won't spoil anything here.

Fair, it's just extra annoying with Naruto since it was always about effort vs talent. Black Clover does this "better" which isn't saying much either.

Not really? That was Lee's thing. Naruto was just pissed at Neji because he was a hypocrite and a massive asshole about it. Him becoming ninja Jesus still made little sense and was entirely unnecessary. It would've been cool if Nagato really was the destined guy he beat the shit out of philosophically and physically though.
