Consoles have never worked properly as computers because the operating systems they make for them are god-awful. With the exception of the Steam OS of course.

Bug testing is probably worse. Imagine the worst game out there, now imagine how many times some poor schmuck had to test the collision of every single thing in that game. Wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

A couple of big draws to working on video games is that you fulfill that childhood desire and you can point to your name in the credits out to all your family and friends. Crunch is going to be a reality of any project-based job, but anybody working in the industry could go and do an analogous job in a 'boring' field and easily double their pay.

The PlayStation hasn't served any multimedia functionality since the days of PS3 PS2. When people used the consoles as a blu-ray player or a dvd players. Everyone has a phone, a computer, or whatever today so implementing these extra features is pretty much useless. Xbox learned this the hard way with the Xbox One fiasco.

1. no parent wants their child wearing a display strapped to their face
2. 2/3 of adults wear glasses making wearing ski goggles on top a pain
3. you have to wall yourself off from society
4. 98% of VR games are fucking Wii tech demos in virtual reality
5. they could give them away with a free blowjob and nobody would buy the games for it

6. VR costs a fuckin' fortune, on top of the pricey PC or PS5 that precludes the headset + controllers
7. Developing a game that's VR from the ground up excludes you from Switch & Xbox right off the bat
8. Fuck your maladies. Bad eyes? Bad neck? Limited mobility? Eat shit!
9. Small play area? Do you have your PS5 hooked up to a TV you use from your bed? No room to stand? Eat shit!

Someone gave me career advice way back that with the kind of skills I'd need to work on games, I could just get a job at a bank and make way more with way less of a workload.
