he could see if somebody is viewbotting
Yeah if the person homebrews their own viewbot and (despite knowing how to do this) still decides to buy a bunch of proxies from the same country like a retard, then sure I guess you could "tell" but even this isn't proof of anything. If you consider that there are platforms like Niconico where everyone is Japanese and if someone were to get raided by a larger streamer from that platform, then all the viewers shoot up and are coming from Japan but none of them type in the chat, then what does that prove?

Streamers that are viewbotting just buy services from those sketch "BUY VIEWERS HERE" websites and hope they work. The ones that do work aren't buying proxies from one fucking country because they don't want to get busted either. Notice that Eddie's solution here isn't to attempt to stop viewbotting, it's to expose everyone's granular metrics so they can all gossip and speculate about it. They don't "know" anything, they can only make an assumption based on what they see. These platforms not only don't want to do anything about viewbots, they profit from the increased "numbers." They just pretend to care when the users start to whine about it on Twitter.

This used be be a real problem on twitch. Someone would follow bot an account and the streamer would be in a absolute panic trying to report it because you could get banned even though it was a regular trolling tool.

I think twitch managed to mitigate a lot of the botting now though.

They havent. They sued a couple of bot companies to shut them down and they recently changed their embedding rules which a lot of streamers were using to leech views off of other websites. This could be considered "botting" but the irony is that these were real people visiting a website and (unknowingly) watching a stream. There are still actual bot websites out there working just fine but until Twitch gets heat again they won't do anything. The reality is there isn't much that they can do. Fire up a PC, connect to a proxy, open your Twitch channel in Chrome and boom you have +1 viewbot. Automating this process onto a remote server in Switzerland isn't really that hard. The best they can hope for is exactly what you expressed: "Hopefully people not talking about it makes them think its not happening"

Paki akshually.
Was gonna ask, that explains it, thank you. And to think, that would have been the situation for Patrick Tomlinson to shine, he would've pulled that W without even thinking. Someone had to take a page from the Jonathan Ross playbook and threaten to anally rape a child though.

Neon looks and acts like the younger brother of the autistic Toronto terrorist Alek Minassian

N3on was banned for threatening to rape a 12 year old.
Multiple levels of retard here.
Threaten to rape a 12 year old? Extremely retarded. Doing it while you're on Twitch, the most sanitized, iron clad, hugbox of PC Bullshit? Career fucking suicide.

What an absolute moron.
