Furry Convention Drama - Because you can't have a couple thousand dog fucking enthusiasts under the same roof without shit hitting the fan

Gonna be real, this is looking REALLY bad. Unless they do something drastic soon, I will be surprised if a 2025 event happens at this point.
The fact you can glance over these photos and not immediately notice its a furry con is a bad sign for them.
It looks really boring and empty, i suppose the huge venue doesn't help but why would anyone want to pay money for this?

Are cons still asking for masks and vaccinations? I was aware that some cons were asking for medical records of vaccination. Which personally I find to be to intrusive.

Just a quick screenshot of the low engagement of their current tweets for posterity. (Archive of the Twitter account)

I looked at their linked Twitch stream out of curiosity, and it had a whopping five viewers (as of a few minutes before I made this post).

There's also at least one dealer already complaining they had almost no sales.

The fursuit photo from this year's Fur The More was posted. For comparison, here it is next to the one from 2023 (second image)

Obviously, not everyone who attends a furcon has a suit and/or shows up to the photo, but it's clear that's a pretty substantial drop-off of attendees nevertheless.

While we're at it, there's a photo of Saturday night taken by a different attendee that shows part of the con space is 100% empty. Here it is next to the photo (on the previous page of the thread) that shows the same location roughly 24 hours before.

While scanning this photo that fucking bluey suit to the bottom right gave me a jumpscare.
What an embarrassing suit to get.
This all just looks so unimaginably dull though, the huge venue doesn't help their case since small cons do exist and can be fun but usually they're just held in a smaller space more suited for these sorts of gatherings, its just kind of a sad sight really.
Not that they didn't have this coming lol.

Couple things:
  • First I've heard of Boozy in a while!
  • HollyAnn is proper oldschool, that's an interesting GoH choice.
  • How much you wanna bet nobody figures out (or says out loud, more like) what kiled the con?

What I would like to know is who is suiting as Rapid T. Rabbit, the owner Richard Concepcion passed away back in 2017

That just makes it all the more creepy to see him in the picture
Hoooo-leee-shit. That's... Someone getting visited by the Bad Idea Fairy.

Is it some kind of taboo to wear a dead guys fursuit?
Yes and no. It's one of those weird gray areas among furries, but a lot of it comes down to the original owner and respecting their wishes.

I've seen cases where people willingly "give up" a character for one reason for another and then happily let someone else own/wear the suit. I've also seen suit owners who were very attached to their character and couldn't stand the idea of someone else having/wearing the suit.

I don't know enough about Rapid/Richard to know what his specific opinion on the matter of his rabbit fursuit was, but I'm assuming that since he was dead for 5+ years when that photo was taken and nobody seems to be complaining about someone showing up in his suit, then I'm presuming he at least consented to the idea before he died.

Rapid T. Rabbit suit seen about 10 years ago at Anthrocon:

Second photo is from FurAffinity.

This seems to be the person who has the suit now, a furry obsessed with muscles and lions.

I've seen this topic being spoken about before, but it's come up again. The great boogeyman of furry conventions...NORMIE ARTISTS IN THE DELAER'S DEN.

"Complaining about horny/less generic things" yes, because being next to the guy selling fetish pool floaty art that isn't necessarily NSFW is a great experience I'm sure. And what of furry artists who just enjoy anthro characters but aren't in it for the porn? That's why these conventions are generally "family friendly", it's pretty broad. Yes, I know being a furry is essentially the same as being a sex-pest, but when you need to make money with actual communities of people in a real physical space, it should be reined in. Being weird does not mean you think dog dicks are sexy.

I honestly wish the Burned Furs would make a resurgence at this point.

Contrary to fandom myths, the Burned Furs were literally a group of angry retards. Their Dear Leader, Eric Blumrich's entire schtick was that he couldn't find a job because furry was too full of sex obsessed retards. Of course, at that time, furry was still fairly underground except for a few documentaries. This is key because there was no "hate furry" stuff going on. There were plenty of furry artists who had professional jobs at that time, attending cons, got paid, that never was sidelined because "muh furry sex".

Despite all this, Eric went on to do more furry related art, even pimping his Kafkaesque comic that's still listed on his portfolio. So what was the problem? The best quote to sum up Blumrich was "He was a man that hated for the sheer joy of hating".

So what's disgruntled Blumrich up to these days? He turned into a super far lefty, blue haired communist that lives in a lefty haven in New England. His portfolio work over the years was to glom on to whatever was hip and hated at the time, and make, honestly, pretty crappy videos and art about whatever was trending that people should hate.

He was a sub par artist at best, a mid level video editor, and a basic bitch animator, but no, it was the furry fandom that did him in! Dude just hated shit, and loved hating stuff.

I didn't help that a lot of the Burned Furs were fugly, old, fat and couldn't fit in with the regular fandom, let alone get in on the sexy action. Think about how many times lefties worm their way into various fandoms and start bitching about how they don't like stuff, and concoct various excuses why their hatred is valid and demand stuff be changed. That's Eric.

TL;DR: Burned Furs were just a group of people who had such repulsive personalities and tendencies that they couldn't (and some still can't) get laid. Even at a furry con in the early 2000s.

The Burned Furs were lolcows themselves but they had good ideas, just poor execution and the faces who represented their movement were retards. I know the group evolved into something that was called "Improved Anthropomorphics" however it failed to gain steam and died relatively quickly. Their old wiki is still online and the announcement on its homepage is from 17 years ago with the last recorded activity happening 14 years ago.

Gamers get gamergate 2 but furries don't get burned furs 2... It's over life is terminally unfair
