yeah breadtube was mandated from the top down not the bottom up. i remember the wave of institutions thinking some retarded turk would upend the natural instinct of people to want to be free online. also how the fuck do you calm down watching hasan? its hours of him being gone to eat and then occasionally a jumpscare loud annoying screech because someone pointed out hes obviously wrong on whatever dumb opinion he has that day. its like a heart attack simulator. youd be calmer if the quiet turk suddenly yelled allahu akbar on the plane ffs.

edit also some people have asked me how breadtube experiment failed if people like hasan are successful even if less so than the right or edgy content. the reason it failed is because it was supposed to entirely tame the internet and kill off any right wing sphere and make people not want to be edgy or say slurs because they can idk pepe post to vaush and hasan and have a teletubby corpo friendly watered down version of that. many breadtubers did fail but even the successful ones never made a cultural impact and basically only appeal to gays and trannies and blacks anyway, people who you didnt need to convince to not like alt right stuff or to hate edgy content that wasnt "jokes" about being pedophlic like on the left or to dislike any valid or invalid critique or joke that mocks someone in their groups.

It's not just that. There was the whole alt-right pipeline paradigm that only calmed down when PewDiePie went on his hiatus. It was not just about shutting down the right wing spheres, it was quite definitively focused on also capturing the audience on it's way into the alt-right and trying to prepare agitators for debating their racist uncles and grandpas on facebook (Innuendo Studios etc.). And some of the content was not even that bad, provided some flawed insight into how discourses work, etc. But almost all of that intellectual type of videos died down with the arrival of Twitch politics and upper-class midwits like Vaush or Hasan, which spawned a whole new generation of monetization-friendly bland liberal-progressive content farms.
Noah Sampsen is kind of definitive of the style. Low energy, low information, just dumb, and a lot of deadpan-delivery of sensitivity-instilled emotional trauma. It's giving divorced art teacher on SSRIs vibes, and I'm still wondering how YouTube manage to make it all not lose money. The ad revenue must be crazy for this to be able to keep up.
The worst thing about it is, it's become all filler. If HBomberguy makes a video, I usually chuckle a few times, shake my head a few times, but I learn something, laugh at something and it's a positive experience altogether. The Wakefield documentary was great, the Tallarico documentary was funny. When I watch FD Signifier, Noah Sampsen, Big Joel or a Thought Slime slop segment, I want to lobotomize myself.

people say that because there arent as many yelling NIGGER on youtube that are allowed to get big but i see nothing but an explosion in sentiments that were verboten years ago with less explicit right wing content creators being popular along with slightly less hard right right wing figures who explode in popularity like tucker. not only that but alot of the popular culture is more influenced by right wing sentiments than left wing ones. anytime i see someone whos generally considered lesss sanitized and actually at least somewhat interesting they give more leeway to the right ideas than left ones.
just searching for a random halo vid the guy mocked some "woke" elements. from the newer games, just watching vinny from vinesauce he said he doesnt really care if some game he was playing generated slurs. i dont really see that kind of osmosis from things like hasan or hbomb or the like even if theyre objectively right on things. ive never seen someone mention or allude to harry's soy debunking video but i always hear in random places the soy meme itself to this day. the closest ive seen is someone reference "sell their houses to who ben?" all the figures people i know irl know are right wing explicitly or implicitly.
sorry for the autistic examples ig but my point is even in niche or autistic places people just mindlessly wander into i see a complete failure to cull right wing ideas from spreading to the point at least some level of acceptance of those ideas are universal in any online culture that likes to be a bit more authentic and not sanitized totally for ads. i cant even name many popular left wing or breadtube memes. the pronoun rant from heelvs and the debate guy ig are kinda close but even then they seem relegated to just a section.

I used to be a big Secular Talk fan. I gained respect for him in 2020 because he was just about the only left wing youtuber who didn't either fully cuck himself to Biden or swing in the other direction to "hErE's WhY eLeCtOrAlIsM dOeSn'T wOrK" stuff. Last I checked he fell in line for Biden anyway though so I guess it was only a matter of time.

People like Adam Something, and Yugopnik make me extremely fucking depressed. They're part of that generation of Eastern-Europeans/Balkaners where their parents either didn't live under communism or were too young to remember anything. They more than likely didn't live with any grand parents or extended family, and they grew up with the internet at the tip of their fingers. Completely divorcing them from the reality of where they live and ironically Americanizing themselves.
At no point in their lives have these people talked to someone who has lived through that system who could tell them "No you fucking retard, communism was just as corrupt and inept as the capitalists you cry about, if not more!" Not only that, but they think they're better than their fellow country men.

While that's the common interpretation of Article 5, it's actually vaguely worded in such a way that it falls to tell each member how they will react to "an attack against them ... in exercise of the right of individual or collective self-defence recognized by Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations, will assist the Party or Parties so attacked by taking forthwith, individually and in concert with the other Parties, such action as it deems necessary". They could all respond with a strongly worded condemnation, but this outcome would risk something almost as dangerous, a complete dissolution of NATO as they realize that the treaty isn't as meaningful as they thought it was.
Either way, sending actual NATO troops into Ukraine would definitely be brinksmanship.

Even though I agree with Adam on the Ukraine war, I still think it's obviously the start of WW3 when NATO steps in. Hell, WW3 has already unofficially started. We're just waiting for China and NATO to get involved. The Israelis are bombing the Gazans, the Americans are fighting Houthis, Ukraine and Russia are slapfighting for the east, with NATO not far behind. India and China are already gearing up for war with each other. What is that if not a world at war?
That's always been my feel with Adam Something. Dude sounds like a Tankie. He bitches about things in Europe that are not problems across the rest of the world, where people have real problems like crushing poverty, corruption, runaway crime and disorder, government coups, among other things. There is one reason American malls are dying out and it isn't for the reason Adam thinks. It's demographics, and how one particular demographic thinks going to the mall means sucker punching Asians and whites and trashing businesses until they have to close. The same will happen to Europe with their unlimited immigration policies.

Then in that case, Europe has that problem even moreso than America. Some American cities at least have cops milling in malls that will arrest said demographic that plays the knock-out game; I've seen more than a few dragged out by cops for causing trouble. Meanwhile, I don't think European police are going to touch the more militant migrants without a ten-foot pole; they sure as hell don't want to be accused of being RACIST and getting fired from their jobs.

Shaun released a video on the Israel-Palestine conflict and what struck me as significant is Shaun's inability to understand Israel's perspective. I would go so far to say that Shaun is anti-Jewish. Not anti-semitic as he does not hate the Jewish people, but he would oppose the beliefs of Judaism and the cultural values of the Jewish people if he learned about them.
Shaun views Israel as a colonial project and that all of horrible things Israel has done to the Palestinians is due to the oppressive nature of a colonial project. He is puzzled at why Israelis celebrate certain actions (an example being Israelis setting up lawn chairs to watch the bombing of Gaza in 2014). He is shocked that apparently the Jewish people did not learn the lesson of the Holocaust, about the need to treat everyone as equal. He wishes that discriminatory values such as the "master race" and "God's Chosen People" would be replaced with universal respect for everyone. Such comments indicate ignorance about Judaism and the Jewish people.
Judaism is connected to the concept of Israel. It is the religious and historical homeland of the Jews, promised by God in exchange for his chosen people to uphold specific laws. The ultra-orthodox anti-zionists only oppose the State of Israel because the messiah has not come. The messiah can only establish Israel. Shaun neglected to mention the initial peaceful attempts to purchase land in Palestine and instead connects initial Zionism with the later right-wing Revisionist Zionism which advocated violence. Is it any surprise that such an ideology would grow in popularity especially during the 1930s? The Revisionists had a perfect example for why Jews needed their own state and the Holocaust demonstrated why Jews needed to fight for it. "Never Again" meant never again will the Jewish people be oppressed. The shared history of exile and persecution will be over once the State of Israel exists. It will be established no matter the cost.

He says that there is no justification for Israel bombing children in Gaza but rationalizes the actions of Palestinian groups (which killed children) as the inevitable result of there being no means for a peaceful solution. Hypocrisy is synonymous with Breadtubers but this video really demonstrates the lack of analytical thinking.

This is a recurring thing with these pro-Palestine "rational" people. Anytime Israel launches a military action they will bemoan the "fact" that this will just further radicalize the Palestinians. After all, who has ever heard of military action ever dissuading more military action from your enemies?
At the same time, they just can't conceive of any possible reason that Israel would elect rightwing governments or allow settlers to harass Palestinians or crack down on civilians who aid terrorists.
I find a lot of "soft bigotry of lowered expectations" arguments to be facile, but it does almost feel like anti-Arab racism, like they don't believe that Arabs are capable of not immediately responding with terrorism and Islamic fundamentalism and ultra-nationalism to any perceived insult. Meanwhile they expect the Jews to be Vulcan-like and to reject all nationalism and refuse to take advantage of their biggest strength (military force) because it might cause undue suffering to the people who keep on trying to kill them.

One thing I remember about Muslim civilization was how worse it was compared to feudalism. Reading a book about the Crusades from Muslim Eyes, even the author had to admit that the Crusader lords treated Muslim peasants with more respect, allowing them to make good money so long as they didn't turn against the Christian ruling class.

Modern academia usually blankets the mind with stories of how good the Muslim rulers are to their subjects, how tolerant and scientific they were.
