It’s classic rigid autistic thinking. You and I can tolerate uncertainty and ambiguity. We can see (or even be) a man like David Bowie or Kurt Cobain in a dress, or a woman with makeup in a suit and tie, and shrug. For them however:

Man = certain characteristics coded as male
Woman = certain characteristics coded as female
I have more male than female = male
I have more female than male = female
I have some of both = non-binary

This is a great deal of it, but not all of it. I've spoken to and read accounts from mid range functioning autists and it seems that a number of them create a mental "persona" in order to talk to others. Pretending to be a different person makes the communication process more comfortable for them. They don't try to act out this persona (until they've been on the internet for a while) but the imaginary gap between themselves and the irl human in front of them is helpful.

Sort of like going to an upscale fancy dress party, I suppose. But the internet tells them that it's the persona who's real and they're the fake ones.

There's a reason autism and furries are so often companions, and troons are right there with them.

I was gonna write how I can't but then I tried and I kind of almost can.
Their whole lives revolve around this even more so than doctors' lives revolve around medicine or programmers' lives revolve around technology. Yet unlike doctors and programmers they have nothing else because this identity of theirs is all-consuming and all-enveloping.

Their whole humanity, their being, everything they are and aren't can be summed up and described with an acronym. A whole life revolving around shallow vanity. All of that which makes a person, the whole identity of the human being is reduced to gender and race and these are the very people who cry bigotry - the ones who see race and gender first and foremost and let it dictate how they live and act.

I’m prepared to be called a schizo but this kind of overnight sensation that takes a previously good looking guy and transitions into a degenerate appealing to children seems too much to be organic.
