A Kenwood KX series should be like $40 plus shipping (shipping will be like $40). I'd recommend avoiding anything high end unless you really fall in love with the format for some reason. I was thinking about dropping like $200 on a really nice Carver some months ago, but I ultimately decided against it because I figured I don't listen to these things enough, and I listen to these things more than 99.999% of people currently living.

I'll keep that in mind. I feel like I need to make a round of all the thrift stores again but everything I've seen so far is way over-priced. Even the crappy shoeboxes are marked up.

Thrift stores/swap meets fell off 10 years ago when every idiot with a smart phone just started matching their prices to whatever the random retards on ebay were asking. Literally the best deals I've gotten recently have been from the ebay "make offer" feature when there's been some guy who's starting to get desperate after leaving his overpriced listing up for a few months too many. You can really put the screws to somebody that way bc the bots don't ever make offers so the sellers think there is zero interest when really they've just fucked up their asking price. The only benefit of thrift stores is the lack of shipping, but at the swap meets ten years ago I was starting to see people set their prices to whatever the ebay listing plus shipping was which is a special brand of insanity so who knows what kind of retardation is going on out there now. Unironically cons are better than swap meets now, those fuckers price their shit to move.
