I kinda want to write a short story set 50 years in the future. The troon menace has been defeated and there are statues of JKR everywhere. Some small child sees a statue and asks what she did in the great war. "She wrote books."

It’s all because to this current generation, Harry Potter was likely the first “real book” they read independently and they probably could use Harry Potter in English lessons or for essays.
The films are arguably one of their “Star Wars”, Ghostbusters, Goonies, ET, Indiana Jones, the defining cultural touchstones for their contemporaries.

As such, they find it hard to take that the person behind the narrative doesn’t share their ideology.

It’s interesting in one regard as I don’t recall as huge a backlash against Roald Dahl over him being a tad anti Semitic and a cantankerous sexist and womanizing kind of fellow.

Granted things were different then, but I think most people were better able to separate him from his work and not feel personally betrayed by his beliefs.
