Nice urban myth, stupid. Gaiman was the one that made this change originally for his promotional story for the Matrix movie.
"I had my idea for the story, and I loved my idea. And I even got to write—I had read the script for The Matrix and there were a couple of things that hadn't quite made sense for me, so I sort of tried to change them a bit: instead of human beings being used as batteries, for example, I had them used for information processing, brains hung out in parallel which seemed, somehow, to make a little more sense.”.
Gaiman says he changed elements of the story to fit his own conception of it. Directly admitting that he made the change from batteries too processors. Not a producer, not the Wachowskis, Neil Gaiman. The Wachowski’s always intended for humans to be used as batteries.

I've speculated before that The Lappening was the thing that pushed Pat over the edge because it demolished his precious sense of masculinity that he has been pathetically desperate to re-assert ever since, and this pretty much confirms it. "It damn near killed me" is not that much of an exaggeration.

Pat is obsessed with (his superficial, cargo-cult understanding of) masculinity. I suspect it's because his father, who seems to have been a rough, tough Chad type, called him a lispy faggot as a child and compared him negatively to his brother and cousin, who were both very successful and testosterone-rich. Pat's entire life has been to show his dad that he's a "real man" and saw Ade and his daughter as a way to stick it to his pa. That's probably all Ade ever was to him, proof that he wasn't a faggot and his daughter was just proof that his testes worked. Just extensions of his own ego, he saw them as his possessions and they became part of his self-image and his self-esteem. I'm not a Fat Faggot With Bitch Tits dad, look, I have a wife and child!

Then, the Lappening. A superior man stole his wife, right in front of him. Pat's entire world imploded. He didn't need his daughter any more, there was no point, so he signed her away without a second thought. The basis of Pat's entire psyche, his proof that all his narcissistic delusions were real, his ego's defence against the nagging feeling that he's really a lispy fag who likes things up his bumhole, all taken away. That's not just a narcissistic injury, that's like Agent 47 putting a bullet between your ego's eyes. I've always said that that was the incident where Pat the lolcow was born, and this seems powerful evidence that I was right.

What is the timeline? Where was the lappening in amongst the trumpetting and then perpetually online? Because I could definitely see fats deciding that he "had to give up his fambly" to run his righteous crusade against the evil Flonald Plump.

Does someone have an accurate timeline somewhere? Like where everything fits in on a major scale? I'm sure it could be instructive to see it laid out, especially as we get new information about old events. Even just a general list of the major events would be nice: I don't know if the Lappening was before the GoodSuing or after Norm/11 or where everything fits in.

The Lappening I think was about a decade ago - it's before his run-ins with the aTalkers but it does line up with him becoming a massive asshole on Twitter, the start of his drinking problem, plus threatening to kill his wife and unborn child. It's definitely when Pat went off the rails, but Norm/11 didn't happen until about 2018.

Interestingly enough, I think that the way the lawsuit is worded, even if it is assumed proven that fats called all the swats on himself, it could continue. That would be something for a criminal case to discover. E.g., just doing crimes doesn't waive your various rights immediately.

To me this seems bog standard and basic bitch, exactly what Russ should aspire to, because these are actual lawyers who know what to file.

The fun will come when Fats doesn't immediately get the settlement he wants, for $83,736.99.

Yeah good luck with that. Pat will DFE the instant he gets a whiff they'll want to look at something specific. I don't know if they'd use this to look for criminal material (IE self swatting) to then hold onto for a speedy criminal trial against Fat (🌈🌈🌈), nor do I know if that's allowed because IANAL but I'd imagine it's sort of like when a robber busts into a home and finds a pile of CP and alerts the authorities.

ETA: concerning this and what they anticipate as subjects for discovery, maybe they could swing it in regards to liability? They say the process isn't limited to particular issues either which sounds confusing. I guess what they're saying is they want to look at everything they can without specifics in order to find anything related to issues of liability immunity and damages.

This also doesn't really matter because they also say they want to file a motion to dismiss (and summary judgment), presumably on grounds of qualified immunity and that seems like the most prudent and obvious answer, but hopefully it doesn't get dismissed because it's funnier that way.

The Lappening is the only thing that almost makes me sorry for Pat, it is an absolutely horrific photo. The way that they are both just sitting there and leering at him. But he is just standing there and accepting it which makes him look cowardly.

Pat got together with Niki on the 11th September 2011. I think that the Lappening was early 2011. Nice way to tell everyone your wife is easy, stupid.
