Usually (and partly from my own experience) having things like this happen is highly distressing and the subject doesn't want to go along with command hallucinations etc.

EDIT: In fact that's actually something forensic psychologists or psychiatrists and detectives actually look out for when attempting to detect malingering to evade culpability for a serious crime: a person faking these symptoms will often claim that they are compelled to do things because of them more or less constantly.

The assault part is obviously not cool. As far as things he actually did vs. uncontrollable hallucinations (that admittedly should have been medicated) mostly he was at most just kind of an asshole some of the time.
