Call of Duty Thread - Potential return to form? Or nothing but cope on the horizon? You decide!

Have they made the zombies mode playable solo yet or do you still have to play on a map with other people doing their own things?
You've still gotta do that, which presumably makes it very fun to craft the aether bike key, only for some nigger to steal the bike the moment you get off it to start a contract. I don't play MWZ enough to confirm (probably says a lot when I enjoy nearly every type of zombie modes in CoD), allegedly they made the zombies in later tiers easier so they're more manageable in solo, but that's about it.

What about the new multiplayer maps or zombies content?
I only play Hardcore MP, I was quite excited when they announced that they were adding six new maps only to find out half of them are "small" maps (like Rust, Meat or Das Haus) which are an auto-skip for me, Compression Carrier will be the new vest I use going forward. I am indifferent to everything else in the update & I just want them to add all of the MWII maps, I was expecting them to slowly introduce them all after they gave us the first couple.

I don't get what the big deal is, it's literally just Alcatraz from Blackout. That iteration was the best, as was Blackout over Warzone, it won't make MW2023 better just like importing MW2 maps didn't make it any better.

I mean I guess it's more nostalgia than anything else as not many people got to play Blackout and many people miss the early era of Warzone before the Caldera map replaced Verdansk.

As someone who is actively playing MWIII myself... I admit, I'm struggling to have fun myself. From a gameplay standpoint, it's pretty hit or miss on whether or not I'll get to be in a decent lobby; there's some lobbies where you'll be getting decent spawns and fair gunfights, but plenty of others will constantly put you directly in the enemy's line of fire and kill you instantly. Some of the maps do look nice, but most of the maps just feel like remixes of earlier CoD maps, or just look so similar that they feel dull; not helped by having a pretty good chunk of maps taken from the older games, either, even in the upcoming season. Even the Shipment 24/7 playlist is a hit-or-miss, as the gameplay just gets dominated by sweats constantly, and it doesn't help that a lot of players refuse to play the objective, either.

Also, constant lag and crappy connection; never great in general, but in MWIII, it feels like I'm bouncing around and lagging constantly. I don't know if it has to do with where I live, or if the game's coding is that bad, but it gets annoying.

Warzone... never could get into it, honestly. I gave it a shot; once with a duo match, once as a solo, and... well, it certainly seems to be where all of the sweats are. Granted, I haven't exactly played very many games of it, but I really want to ask; why is it so popular with the devs and playerbase, again? Because instead of the constant action-packed party that the trailers portray, it's a fairly dull slog dominated by tryhards, in my experience.

Also... is it just me, or do guns feel really weird in this game? Like, in some matches they feel really strong, but in other matches you dump half a mag into someone and they don't die.

As for Zombies; I have had some fun with it, I admit. I do like the idea behind it, to some extent; taking place in this large, open map, where you and your crew have to scavenge for supplies and such while completing objectives. Kinda like DayZ to some extent; feels like an interesting step in comparison to the prior Zombie modes, without the round focus. That said, the fact that it's basically just a Warzone reskin certainly takes away some points; while re-using assets isn't anything new for Zombies in particular, it honestly feels rather blatant here, as the dev team didn't even try to make a new map. Also, the time limit is a major downside, as it severely hampers the amount of stuff anyone can get done; means that you have to try and rush to do everything, and you'd be surprised how fast time can go when you're killing hordes. Doesn't help the devs keep nerfing certain builds, or the rumor that they might be adding PVP into MWZ in the future.

As I mentioned previously; only reason why I even have the game is because a friend of mine was really, really wanting to have someone to play Zombies with... and even then, I'm tempted to just drop the game entirely anyways. The upcoming season, while looking like it does have some interesting content, is still unlikely to really change my mind on this game, and I just don't know how to feel about it, honestly.

Actually, this talk of MWIII's content and upcoming season reminds me of another CoD game that I was interested in giving another shot; Advanced Warfare. I played the shit out of it on the PS3 back when it came out, but I never did try the PS4/5 version. Thing is, I don't really know if it's worth it at this point; the game is pretty old at this point, and I'm fairly certain it's likely dead at this point. Not to mention, I already had all of the DLC for the game on PS3; white I can't access it anymore, it does make me wonder if I should go ahead and spend a bunch of money on content that I had already owned previously.

AW is dead, but strangely there is still people playing zombies. That's the only worthwhile mode to play if you own all the DLC, altho you should also play multiplayer with bots, just to taste what the experience was like.
I actually liked the Exosuits in that game more than the gay little jets in BO3 and IW and I guess Titanfall 2. It took more skill to use properely, got you more verticality, and there was an actual Jetpack upgrade you could use(we refer to advanced movement CODs as "Jetpack games" even tho only AW had jetpacks). Very underrated game, in my experience anyone who hated the game just sucked at it. There was even a cool playlist that added grappling hooks on top of exo suits, making the matches extremely chaotic, but that was only for a few handful of DLC maps, I doubt you can play that offline.

I'm not sure if I really see why people seem to miss DMZ having support so much. There's always complaints that MWZ is really difficult to play alone (disregard the fact a bunch of old Zombies maps were physically impossible to progress without a coordinated 4-person team), but DMZ is practically impossible to even duo, let alone solo. If you take so much as a step to try gearing up, you get completely torn to shreds by a premade 6-man with full gear.

It feels like the same issue Tarkov or DayZ have to me. The premise is cool, PvPvE environment where you can have all sorts of friendly or hostile encounters but, in execution, you just get a bunch of drooling speds shooting anything that moves.

I'm back into Cold War grinding for diamond camo for sniper rifles. Sad thing is you have to reach a weapon level of FIFTY to get the last set of camos TO UNLOCK. And progress does not carry over if you do not meet the level prerequisite.

Example: level 50 camos, reach X amount of double kills. Achieve 3 double kills before level 50, they don't count.

That's probably the main negative I have with Cold War MP that makes me hesitant to focus on unlocking camos despite already having Zombies diamond on two weapon types. Leveling feels painfully slow, and there isn't much you can do to improve it, aside from using a 2x token and sitting in either Face-Off or Onslaught Containment. Say what you want of Vanguard, and there's probably plenty to be said there, but at least it was nice of SHG to give the game a permanent 2x boost on everything after EoS (even if, as far as I remember, getting camos themselves is a noticeably worse slog).

Speaking of Cold War unlocking: you can use prestige keys to unlock legacy prestige icons and banners for your playercard. How am I supposed to "unlock" them if I have not prestiged during the seasons? If that makes sense, I have post season prestige. I am locked out of even obtaining those unlocks.

I don't have any keys on me right now, so I can't test, but you should be able to just get prestige things as normal. I've only started playing this year, but I do seem to at least be getting Prestige Master ribbons fine.

There's a bug if you boot up Cold War and prestiged, your level "goes up" 4-5x. Example, say you're Prestige 4. You reboot the game, finish a match, it shows you're Prestige 7-8 before reverting back.

I know there are seasonal prestige challenges. Some of them are impossible to do without playing Combined Arms, which nobody plays anymore. That Warzone-esque mode exclusive to Cold War where you drive vehicles and play objectives.

Haha, what the fuck.
Warzone 2.0 is so cooked if retards like this can play

I already didnt pick up MW3 seeing how they shat on so many gun designs and made weird hybrids of like, 8 different things for one gun that no-one even uses anyway cuz the newest seasonal pass shit is the meta. but god if this is what i'd be playing against im happy i saved myself the cash, I'll just wait for Black Ops Gulf War or whatever the fuck the next goyslop cod game is called

Who thought it was a good idea to involve finding random parts and deciphering code as Easter Eggs for Zombie maps?

Example: Die Rise's easter egg has one step where you have to find four of twelve Mahjong pieces that randomly spawn on specific parts of the map. It doesn't help that Die Rise turns into a maze with the skyscraper elevator gimmick where all but one perk machine changes location each game. Add insult to injury, it requires four players that know what to do AND to have a specific weapon that you'd have to craft or get lucky to obtain in the box.

I'm probably oversimplifying it. Does that sound fun? Going on a wild goose chase to find/enable small items to activate a specific way and do some convoluted dance to satisfy a voice.

Why does half of every lobby I play already have Blackcell? Is CoD not matching you to push you towards MTX complete bullshit, or do people really wanna attract white women that bad (probably both)?

Also, MWZ stash size got doubled and leaving with extra Aether also decreases crafting cooldown, which is nice. At the same time, apparently Treyarch was still working on MWZ and is only now passing it off to Sledgehammer, which kind of makes it worse if anything. I'd imagine most people have already assumed Treyarch abandoned it to IW or High Moon ages ago.

Always had a pet peeve with these being called easter eggs. If the obscure crap needed blocks half your map's progression, that's not an easter egg, it's ARG bullshit that becomes pointless usually within 48 hours. The coffin dance in CW's Die Maschine, Hide and Seek from WaW's Der Riese, those are easter eggs.

I liked Mob of the Dead's easter egg with obtaining the plane parts to escape Alcatraz into the Pack a Punch machine. AFAIK, the plane parts locations are the same for each playthrough. It gets tricky during the last third of the way through for collecting headphones and listening to voice logs.

Oh sweet summer child, if you think Die Rise is bad, just get a load of actual military encrypted ciphers scattered around the maps that have nothing to do with the main easter eggs. Some of them haven't been cracked to this day and it's been years.

I am not surprised that this is who your average player for MW6 is, nor that they are cheating. Man am I glad I don't play these games anymore.

The only people playing MW6 left are paypigs, cheaters and sweats who took it personally when you told them they suck 15 years ago and went on a crusade to prove everyone wrong. It shouldn't be a surprise that the few people left playing this piece of shit are also whales.

TranZit is a troll map through and through. Let's make a massive map by Zombies standards divided into four parts where you have to ride a bus around for transportation. The ground is inexplicably cracked with lava with the Pack a Punch machine IN THE MIDDLE OF A LAVA PUDDLE. You'd need to ride the bus around each segment to build each buildable. Two of the four segments are dead space. Fun.

It wasn't supposed to be like this, the map was fucked by console limitations at the time.
Lava cracks? Limits how fast players can go because the game will crash if players move across it too fast. The fog? The entire map cannot load in at once or the game will crash, so the game is limiting how much of it you can view like a PS1 game. Denizens, possibly the worst COD Zombie enemy? It rapes your face so that you slow the fuck down while the game loads outside the stops, otherwise the game will crash. See the pattern here?
Such a shame, the idea was perfect and I love the atmosphere. This had the potential to be the best zombie map of all time. We have the technology today, and we had two remakes(Mobile and BO4) that fell thru. Fuck this DMZ or Outbreak bullshit, give us the original. I want the OG Tranzit without the fog, denizens and other limitations, just pure intended experience. This is the only thing worth looking forward to in Zombies anymore.

BTW, ever wonder why Mob of the Dead starts with no barricades on windows? The game would crash if all the windows started out barricaded. That's how limited Treyarch was in 7th gen. I think the later maps are so well received precisely because Treyarch learned to work with their limitations, Origins being their magnum opus and what Tranzit was supposed to play like to begin with.

But the fog, red tint, bussing and lava IS the atmosphere for TranZit. You're basically asking for something else. That's like wanting Silent Hill 2 without the low draw distance. Or Jean Harlow without her "trucker" tone of voice.
