actually isn't [sarcasm]. Even if in the end Drew cut the communication with me, he allowed for a lengthy debate and discussion in private over our differing opinions. He was willing to listen to the other side and actually address various opposing ideas and claims.
Naive guy. The only reason Drew went into private messages is to later post excerpts as a gotcha.

CoC trannies are some of the worst troons out there. All of the classic tranny traits dialed up to 11: the self-righteousness, the bullying, the manipulation. The need to wield imaginary power while being - in every sense of the word - impotent.
these retards always turn everything into a fucking hugbox, it's so annoying. I don't care if you call me a fag, just get things done already. Fuck code of conduct guidelines, embrace not being a retard.

"huh, but that dev is trasphobic"
That guy is disgusted by you, not afraid of you.

CoC should be torn into pieces.
They already chopped off theirs.

These people are an absolute cancer infesting the world and rotting away every institution they can invade. If I saw this horrible creature crossing the road in front of me, I'd floor it Terry A. Davis style.
Not worth it. You'll kill a troon and you'll be responsible for it like for a human being.
He's better known as kode54 and is the socially-inept sperg-fag mirror to byuu's effeminate social-temerity. He's realistically becoming a lolcow in his own right. Hydrogenaudio admin too, BTW.
Oh yeah, him. I use foobar2000 and it's a pain he made so much shit for it and other audio related software, like the OmniMIDI driver that allows for soundfont juggling, or the MIDI converter I used to get Nokia ringtones on my phone. I hate it when decent software is written by spastics that you can't trust.

I'm sure there's a lot of people sympathetic to the cause of the +NIGGER license, but it is never going to work because normal people will not do it, and if the only projects using it are random things used by you and your grandma it's basically like having a ukrainian/lgbt/palestine/etc flag in your twitter username

This all will only end if the corpos are expelled, which I'm afraid at this point simply will not happen. For many, varied reasons.

These supply chain attacks will also only ramp up. The west is in full cold war with many to it hostile governments, (e.g. China, Russia) even if it doesn't want to realize it (or is manipulated by foreign agents not to see it) and it's infrastructure and society is precariously attackable because of how we do things here. This is all part of it. I don't like to veer into the political online because it's utterly pointless but it just has to be said.
I'm going down similar roads lately, my dream is to become a digital hermit with my very own, very custom systems and only to very passively interact with the online world via AI agents who do some very heavy sorting and filtering for me and have no direct exposure anymore otherwise. Since I don't inheriently rely on the internet, it should be attainable.

For example, the video about OpenWRT. It doesn't feel like he has any practical experience with OpenWRT, or even uses something OpenWRT based. It feels like he pulled some old router out, found out it has OpenWRT packages, and then just did a live reading of OpenWRT's wiki without any sign of him knowing all the little fuckery involved with setting up OpenWRT, and then the best part, he ended the video on logging into the LuCI and doing zero configuration. Why not show everyone how to do a basic configuration? Is it because you've never used OpenWRT and you have zero idea how to actually use it?

Because here's the thing: LuCI is fucking ass, even more so than your typical pre-installed firmware web UI, and in my experience I have a better time configuring fucking RouterOS on a Mikrotik than configuring OpenWRT, because RouterOS is brutally technical in it's configuration, even if it's an inelegant clusterfuck.

In fact, here's a fun anecdote from my personal experience. I had a TP-Link router with OpenWRT set up to act as an access point with multiple SSID's on separate VLANs and subnets. It worked fine, worked fine after an OpenWRT upgrade, I didn't back that configuration up, I locked myself out of the router, I did a reset on it, and even after restoring the config 1:1 it refused to work for some reason. I gave up on it and it's gathering dust on a shelf now.

Meanwhile, when I locked myself out on my Mikrotik, after restoring the backup config I've essentially had a 1:1 restored config, only the user accounts weren't properly restored. And before that it bricked itself over an update, though it failed to properly restore the backup and I wasn't wise enough to do the text config exports too, but I managed to salvage most of the config. Still, somehow a bunch of drunk Latvians can manage to write a better working piece of proprietary router firmware than the godly FOSS devs.
This is a very longwinded way of saying you fucked up.

This is a very longwinded way of saying you lack the basic mental capabilities of understanding written text. Me locking myself out of my routers wasn't the main argument, Mental Outlaw being a grifter that doesn't actively use the things he shills was the main argument.

My router anecdote was there to say that I had a better time with a less intuitive closed source firmware than I had with the more intuitive open source one, because the open source one had unpredictable issues that shouldn't be happening in the first place, to show that what Mental Outlaw praises to high heavens isn't always that, because he never uses it.

Case in point: OpenWRT doesn't have replicable configs which is a gigantic flaw, and Mental Outlaw praised OpenWRT as the second coming of Christ without ever going through the LuCI configuration in his video. He's a grifter shill and if you praise him as a FOSS guru you're a retard, since he makes it abundantly clear he has zero idea what he's talking about.

You wiped your known good configuration without a backup.

This is user error.

It's annoying to have happened, but the fact that you were able to recreate your setup when you wiped your proprietary firmware without a backup and not the open source one is not a reason to use proprietary software, it is a reason to back up your devices. Most likely, your config files were subtly different from the old, working config files that were wiped and no longer existed.

You missed out the most important part in the lede: RedHat employee. He sent his accusations from a redhat email address
Worth to mention that Lyude was confronted about this by Vaxry and began to backpedal further attempting to muddy the water. Luckily Vaxry does not fall for it and calls out the bullshit:

After almost 3 weeks, a reply arrived to my inbox.
I had hoped for some constructive discussion, but I was disappointed.
The entire reply was literally 6 sentences.

It appears there's been a misunderstanding on your end. This email has nothing to do with Red Hat https://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/CodeOfConduct/ You can find my name there.
Oh, no, no. You're writing this from an email @redhat.com, which is to be treated as a statement from RedHat. If you want to make a statement that I will not rightfully link to RedHat, use a different host.

My best wishes to Vaxry: tak trzymaj kolego. Jebać, jebać, i się nie bać.

This is 100% on OpenWRT. I followed the instructions in their documentation, I used the GUI that they give me and expect me to use. On the previous version, I followed the instructions and the WLAN interfaces binded to the bridge interfaces just fine. After an update and reset, I followed the exact same instructions, and now the interfaces won't bind.

I was not to expect that this wouldn't work. This is what OpenWRT presented to me, this is what I did, it didn't work, there was no disclaimer that between updates those guides may stop working and I won't be able to configure my hardware the same way. This is an OpenWRT issue, not a user issue.

And once more: Mental Outlaw is a grifter that doesn't know what he's talking about.

This was the core argument, and this entire derail is irrelevant to that point. He dug out some old shitty router, commented himself following a guide without any preparation whatsoever, and the moment he installed the firmware he cut it there. He didn't show what features OpenWRT has, or features that it has but proprietary firmware didn't, anything to show how OpenWRT is better besides "it's FOSS", but he didn't, he cut it the very moment he opened up LuCI to show it was running OpenWRT now. I only brought up my experiences with it as a counterargument to the perfect vision of OpenWRT he presented.

And this is his MO in every video. He finds a FOSS project that's an alternative to a proprietary project, so we have the good FOSS and evil proprietary dynamic that was all you could read from my post. Then he makes a half-assed video where he spends barely any time on the thing he's promoting, overly praises it, downplays any shortcomings he encounters, and repeat ad nauseam. He's not a voice of reason, his recommendations are worthless. That was the entire argument.
Who are you to claim anyone is retarded when you're using youtuber recommendations for your router firmware and then blaming THEM when you fuck it up? Very funny.
I- I really don't know what to say. Are you just purposefully misrepresenting what I said at this point?

No, I did not install OpenWRT just because Mental Outlaw showed it off.

His video came out three months ago, I had that TP-Link with OpenWRT on it for years.

I bought it to replace my ISP's router, but couldn't fully replicate the config that I needed with it.

Then I installed OpenWRT on it, that also didn't help.

I got the MikroTik and it's firmware was capable of replicating that config.

The TP-Link went on unused until I decided to turn it into an access point.

Then the events that I described at least twice now happened and OpenWRT fucked up.

Those were my experiences with it that I had before Mental Outlaw made a video on OpenWRT.

And if anyone will keep insisting that it was somehow my fault, just remember that you're the real reason why FOSS is being kept down. Not the troons, not the corporate meddlers, it's you, the community that blames FOSS' issues on anything but the FOSS.

I like Mental Outlaw but I know he doesn't know what the fuck he is doing, which is why I don't even bother watching him for his tutorials or guides on anything. He is simply my basic OSS and security news. That is all he really should be.
And at that point he can be replaced with a decent RSS feed. Well, I guess depends if you're a spastic zoomer or not, the idea of reading text to get your news might be highly unappealing for some, so a funky narrator with soyjak thumbnails is needed.

True, and I do read some RSS feeds to get my spill most of the time. Sometimes it just feels better to listen to some sperg on the Internet talk about it in the background while you are doing other things. Could be entertaining, could not.
