Inactive Byuu / byuu_nyan / setsunakun0 / Near / David Ginder - "Non-binary" furry programmer who wrote a Super Nintendo emulator, tried to blackmail Null into removing his thread, and is probably actually dead lol

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
A month after Byuu killed himself, somebody wrote a question on the Skeptics StackExchange asking for evidence. The "answer" was the same regurgitated bullshit from Hector Martin. I thought I would check on it now to see if somebody answered it properly with the FOIA documents in hand...

Oh, fuck you. What's the fucking point of locking it? Now it can't be corrected with supporting documentation.

Fuck Stack Exchange. Easily the worst site to get answers on the Internet.
Locked to avoid repeated misgendering. Flag if you have a different edit to make.

That explains it.

Well, my 3 year run of occasionally checking this thread for updates is over. Insane it took that long. I may be forgetting some details, but none of the byuu dickriders even made a proper effort to produce evidence of his passing? I'm sure the justification would be "we didn't want to validate KiwiFarms by looking for a death record" but allowing the uncertainty to continue for 3 years? Something that should have been easy to produce by the people who knew and cared for him. They allowed this uncertainty to overshadow his death and legacy, all just to spite this website. None of this was ever actually about byuu, was it?

He burned every bridge in every community until he had a very tiny circle of internet friends. No IRL associates, probably because the ones he did have in the US he stole games from all for an emulator nobody gives a shit about. No IRL associates in Japan because he doesn't speak the language at a conversational level, just enough to not be a nuisance, which makes moving to Japan even stranger.

The individual behind byuu's version of Bahamut Lagoon is the guy behind many Shin Megami Tensei and Go For It Goemon translations, known as TranslatorTom. Said TranslatorTom would be forced to delete his social media accounts due to correctly including the word "tranny" in a Goemon 3 translation for the term "newhalf." Yes, I am aware of the irony.

That clears that up. 2 different Toms for 2 different Bahamut Lagoon translations.

I do remember the Goemon controversy when it happened and thinking TranslatorTom was mentally weak (as those in the creative space often are) for backing down from the Tranny criticism and deleting his social media. He's still on Twitter as @RetroTranslator.

I was re-reading Byuu's old post here and I came across this:

I support free speech absolutely, even when it's speech I don't like, because silencing it only makes things worse. I even defended Tom in the recent Goemon translation controversy, knowing that'd lose me support among my friends. And I'll lose a lot of support by simply posting here at all. So be it.

So I was thinking, has anyone ever made a concise list of Byuu's enemies? The mainstream media thinks that Byuu's one and only enemy is Kiwi Farms but somehow I doubt anyone from here would personally go to Byuu to harass him about his stance on the Goemon translation controversy.

Here's what the list might look like. It's just a work in progress but the more I learn about Byuu's past, undoubtedly I will find more names to add to the list. The official narrative is that Kiwi Farms killed Byuu but I think that is too simplistic at best and wrong at worst. I would argue that there are myriad sources of his suicide and it is the combined collective of grief that drove him over the edge.

Personal enemies: Enemies of Byuu and the group/community they're from. These individuals have personal beef with him and cause him the most distress and trouble.

Jacob Thomas Reinhardt Groszek AKA CIA Nigger (personal friend of Byuu, from the furry community but also on Kiwi Farms)
SquarePusher
TwinAphex (from RetroArch)
Mudlord (from zSNES forums)

Mob enemies: These are enemies of Byuu that originate from of a group/community but are not necessarily personally identifiable.

/emugen/ (a 4chan board for emulation)
zSNES (message board for a SNES emulator)
Kiwi Farms (message board for gossiping about lolcows)

Drama and Conflicts: Because a situation had happened that Byuu was involved in, there was an opposing side or he received backlash for a stance he took.

The Goemon 3 Tranny/Newhalf incident: "TranslatorTom" worked on a SNES game called Goemon 3 and translated Newhalf to Tranny. Byuu supported Tom's decision. Both Byuu and Tom received backlash from the Tranny community.

The Undumped ROM Twitter Flexing incident: As part of his SNES game preservation project, Byuu received a bunch of game carts. One of them was undumped so he show it off on Twitter. He received backlash from 4chan's /vr/ board who perceived Byuu as a dump hoarder.

The Emulator License Drama incident: A bit of a technical incident so we'll just say he received backlash from RetroArch, who perceived Byuu as a parasite.

The FPGAs and Cemu incident: Byuu wrote a negative article regarding this topic and he received backlash from Reddit.

On the note of isolation...online presence is one thing and especially now it can seem like a real thing, but it kinda isn't? I don't have (time to find) anything backing up my claim, but at least consequences of coof lockdowns show a pattern. So in my mind 'social contact only online' reads as completely isolated.
I'm with you there that he's completely isolated in a way that most people would hate. It's surely not healthy, but his self-imposed isolation is rather different from the forced isolation that lockdowns caused for other people.

Even though byuu didn't get out much, he didn't seem to be fully withdrawn from all friends. because...
No IRL associates in Japan
...if we're to believe that someone (Hector or not) sat listening to byuu die then we also need to take at face value the rest of the Google Doc info, which mentions seeing byuu IRL 17 days prior:
I last saw Near on June 9. We had sushi in Akihabara, and then sat down for a cup of coffee. I was a bit busy that day, but I was looking forward to inviting them over to hang out again soon.
It's impossible to say what's real though.

Personal enemies:
Approximately two months after my post above, there were logs leaked regarding drama with someone named Dan AKA andientart.
it seems there is someone in byuu's circle that is firmly convinced Dan/adientart was the person that put the final nail in the coffin.
I'd tentatively add andienart to that list. His name is new to me so idfk where or how he figures in.

cared for him.
Now, that's where you're wrong kiddo.

Agree and agree he very probably had at least some limited irl social contacts. I guess I should be more clear what I mean and now typing I realise it's actually probably not outright a thing about isolation but I can't imagine isolation is going to be helpful anyway - immersing himself into a (literally) fatal spiral of depression induced delusional thinking. I'm sure one can slip into that even if surrounded by genuine friends but Byuu's social situation seems like a clear aggravating factor.

I'm just a messenger but here is Null's exact words on the MATI:
It was never made clear how @Wayne Beckett got a picture of the urn. Maybe the funerary sent it to him. It makes sense it's just a cheapo jar to temporarily hold his ashes before scattering them but that still makes it the hilarious that they put him in a cheap jar.

Why would someone as terminally online as Marcan not have posted about it on Twitter? That would seem like something he would have bragged about when it happened.

And I totally don't believe some guy who is not Simple Jack or even Hiromi had a picture of Byuu's autopsy that the embassy didn't have.
I agree that claim is 100% bullshit, but I thought the claim was just he had a picture of the body, as in at the apartment or something, but if they were claiming it was from autopsy it sounds even more like bullshit. The MOST they’d be given if anything at all would be a drawing of the body and what injuries it sustained, and a description of death. I don’t know what they even gained from making that claim, as either way it’s not the best look to have a picture of your dead friend/coworker you’re just sitting on. Fortunately everyone was busy shitting on us instead of going after someone claiming to sit on autopsy photos he got… just because?

I don't recall if it was specifically said to be the autopsy, but it's not like a morgue or crime scene photo is any more plausible. I mean, can you imagine the Japanese cops sending a grieving spouse a photo taken mid-ACK?

Ah, velly solly. We must use clime scene foto. We also had to mosaic censor inadvertent election, rocal raw, you unnastand.

I think the funniest thing about his life is that everyone will remember “Byuu” and not “Near”. He’s always going to be labeled a mistake, even in death. This is despite his (failed) rebranding, IIRC he wanted to give the cursed moniker to his BSNES team, probably so he could abandon that name and get 1.5% more confidence from not constantly degrading himself. Also LOL at the troons trying to claim him despite him literally saying in text that he only did that shit to fit in. I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again, RIP BOZO.

Guess who lived, bitch?
Meanwhile 9/10 psychiatrists bozos recommend a grapefruit into forehead as the most effective and efficient cure for suicidal ideation.

Youtube is a niggerfaggot and paint tool is faster than vpn to obfuscate a rather specific language it would show.

E: comments are from Les voyages de l'ame, of course.

I believe the logs were from telegram though I'm not familiar enough to say for certain. Annoyingly, the logs were exported without pictures so I don't have the full context.
Apologies to all Kiwis for almost losing information on account of being retarded.

Thankfully I have an archive of Zrcalo's channel (Ardient Art Exposed) from two days prior with all the images on hand.

PS. Zrcalo is an avatara of gayops, if she publicly suspects someone of doing something - she probably did it herself or knows who did it and is trying to trollshield.

So, it's been two weeks.
I guess our kweer friends might not care all that much about poor David as they tried to portray...
The #DropKiwiFarms movement only cared about David insofar they could use his death as a vehicle to drive the movement forward. His death was just a convenient excuse to give the movement a cause that seemed reasonable to an uninformed outside observer.

The average Twitter user is easily swayed by what's trending. Something like this could potentially re-ignite Drop KF, but because it's not trendy anymore, nobody cares. I am willing to bet more Kiwifarmers remember byuu than people who considered him their friend.

Funny that, now that I think about it. His husband, the one person in the world who legitimately cared about his well-being, is having to fight an uphill battle to get David's things back because David cared more about his internet friends and the guy who he thought was the primary source of his grief (Null) than his supposed lifelong partner. Scumbag.

This part is the only thing that actually makes me feel sad he died. Not because he himself is gone, but he left someone who is clearly autistic at the very least hoping all the way until the end that he’ll get a happy life with a man he likely viewed as very interesting and smart. David said it was a “platonic relationship” but to me it always read more as “I left my husband while he had a crisis in his life and had to take care of children, but I string him along so I don’t have to worry about divorce :)”. Truly a scumbag indeed.
