Roblox Community General Thread

I don't exactly understand the level of hatred towards the public ugc update. As much as the content that is being uploaded is distasteful if not abhorrent, I don't think it's close to being the worst update in Roblox. I think the issue has to do with not exactly UGC but with Roblox's lackluster and backward moderation. I don't know, I get the feeling that if UGC existed nearly a decade ago no one would have cared upon its release, and on the other hand if the user-uploaded audio update came today people would be in uproar. The website was already able to allow anyone to upload 3D meshes for years, there was, of course, inevitable controversy even then, but the problem people see with UGC has been prevalent for a long time, and I think placing the blame on UGC as a concept instead of seeing it as an extension of Roblox's bad moderation is misguided.

The same issue has existed for shirts, 3D meshes, or games. I don't think removing the feature is a reasonable response to these problems when none of the features that had the same issues were ever recalled. The irony is that before ugc, one of the worst updates the community saw was the audio update, which got the exact opposite reaction as we see here since that is an instance of a large portion of the Roblox library getting mass moderated and the community reacting to it extremely negatively. I don't think it's a problem that a feature became accessible to more users. I don't think the increased number of content needed to be moderated is an issue. I think Roblox has an incredibly backward and hazard-prone standard for moderation that will always be an issue regardless of what or whatever scale it is applied to.

public ugc is going to send roblox back into the 2016 gangbang script news articles era
these bypasses arent just limited to games that allow you to insert asset IDs anymore, you can literally wear these accessories in any game and they will load for other players
players will be wearing cocks and humping other players avatars, exploiters will be writing new FE compatible rape scripts utilizing these accessories
bbc freaks wont have to join hangout games and lure people into discord and then condo hubs anymore, they can just directly ERP on the hangout games
this is gonna fuck up roblox really bad

On top of the poor moderation which is ESPECIALLY bad on UGC:
- There was a surge of people stealing and uploading copies of other preexisting UGCs
- Apparently it now costs several times as much (10-30 robux -> 100+ robux per unit) than before the update to upload limited UGCs, and you typically upload thousands of units for a limited UGC so it can be bought that many times.
