Stardew Valley players have been targeted with doxxing and abuse for asking the game’s developer to add pronouns.

In October, fans began requesting that developer Eric Barone – aka ConcernedApe – add pronouns to the farm-life sim game, as a way to better represent non-binary players.

A petition was created by fan Atmos Fierce, which has garnered more than 8,600 signatures.

However, the call has resulted in abuse from anti-LGBTQ+ fans of the game, who have targeted streamers and members of the community by either purposefully misgendering them, sending abuse, or doxxing them.

Doxxing refers to the act of sharing private information such as a home address, phone number, or other identifiable details, publicly on the internet.

Transgender streamers appear to be the main target of the abuse, with some users telling them to “be careful” playing Stardew Valley while the controversy continues to rumble on.

Barone’s silence has been “deafening”, one person claimed.

“Transphobes are doxxing and harassing members of your Stardew Valley community simply because they are advocating for a pronoun update,” the user wrote. “It is extremely important for you to speak up for them.”

The lack of response has led some to suggest a boycott of the game until either a statement is made or pronouns are added to the game.

“I truly do not care if ConcernedApe speaks on pronouns in the game any more,” one user said. “I want [him] to condemn the transphobia and violence against the trans members of the community.”

An affiliate for the streaming site, Twitch, said they would not be playing the game any longer because of Barone’s lack of response.

“It does not feel right for me to continue streaming or playing Stardew Valley,” they wrote. “It truly breaks my heart to see the amount of people getting hurt.”

PinkNews has contacted Eric Barone for a comment.

Transphobes are also "members of the Stardew Valley community", I mean, they might not be fandom faggots, but they bought and play the game.

But they already bought it. It's not a restaurant or a store they can choose to not go to anymore, it's a game they already bought. Thanks for the money.

The link has "stardew-valley-tour-dates-tickets" in it. From what I've observed on peddit, these tickets sell out pretty much immediately. I'm not sure if troons can cancel, but if they can, it'll make plenty of "transphobes" happy.

Imagine getting mad at Stardew Valley (which if you don't play, has gotten nearly a decade of free updates) for not adding in the one specific thing you want or god forbid not just doing it your fucking self.

Stardew Valley is one of the more mod friendly games to exist - maybe one of those 8600 signatures should crack open a "how to code" book.

Trannies: "fuck you chud, deal with us trying to ruin everything"
Also trannies: "waaahh people are ruining our lives for trying to infest everything they love!"
You created this culture, now deal with the consequences. Also telling people your real name isn't "dawksing" lmao get over it

You can mod a game to add anything you want. Adding muh pronouns would be pretty simple as far as mods go.

They don't want to add pronouns in a mod. They want to force the developer to bend the knee officially and force their narcissistic bullshit on normal people.

And I don't know what's going to happen. Stardew Valley is a great game, and it was all made by one guy. I have always had a feeling someone that dedicated is probably a furry or a troon or something related to autism.

I find Stardew Valley a rather relaxing game, so it annoys me that the freakshow is out there demanding 'muh pronouns'.
It's bad enough the only scientist in town is black!

a furry or a troon
A common theme in both is denying reality of what one is, and embracing delusion of what one is not?

Note to devs, make sure you hard lock the player character to being male if you don't want your playerbase to turn to shit
In Clown World, it seems it's "problematic" to play as a guy who can court gals, like in the older Harvest Moon and Rune Factory games that Stardew Valley was inspired by.

It's like 90% of stardew valley characters being bisexual so anyone can date them. Dev would've got crucified if the ratio was flipped in favour of everyone being heterosexual

In the actual game you (the character) are referred to by your pronouns less then a handful of times. Often times characters will just refer to you as "The Farmer" or "Character Name" so asking for a pronoun choice is honestly so fucking retarded.

Not to mention there already exist dozens of mods that do just that already available on Nexus or Gamebanana.
