that travis chimp was also morbidly obese and on xanax, a drug that is not only addictive it can sometimes induce a paradoxical reaction called benzo rage.

they're dangerous animals in the best of circumstances, but that one in particular was really set up to fail by his stupid ass owner.

One of the few commercial pet trade spillovers of this is the Glofish, several species of freshwater fish that have been genetically modified with genes from marine jellyfish and corals to give them vibrant coloration.

Is that the same process that makes glow axolotls? Because my local aquarium store has a big tank full of them with blacklights and they look amazing.

Oh boy Glofish™.

I know no one gives a shit about fish, but Glofish have origins out of some fucked up japanese body horror movie.

The first Glofish were Zebra Danios. A zebra danio is a bait minnow with blue stripes running down the side that costs like $5 a fish now, and long before Glofish there was a lab breeding mutant Danios like a bunch of 5 year olds in the 80s trying to make Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles real.
These mengele knockoffs chose Zebra Danios for two reasons:
First, the motherfucker NEVER stop spawning. If you've ever had more than about 4 danios, chances are you had both genders sexes and they were constantly fish-fucking. The problem is they love eating their own eggs, so all you need to do to get the Danios to breed is stop them from eating their spawn.

Second, there is a weird quirk with the eggs where right before the egg starts dividing the chromosomes get very, very thick. Thick enough for scientists to see and manipulate with common microscopes, so they could pull out the healthy natural genetic material and replace it with some shit they spliced in the lab. By fucking with the existing genes they made a bunch of horrible mutants including ones that grow muscle so fast they'd be unable to swim due to being muscle bound and ones with bloodcells that would explode on contact with light.

Anyway, the shit behind Glofish on release was some bullshit story about how they wanted to make fish that would detect environmental hazards - if there's heavy metals, or radiation, or troon chemicals in teh water, the fish would start to change color. But see before thye could work on the color change, they had to make sure they could put the "turns into something out of a Spencer's wall poster" gene, they had to make sure they could turn the fish some hideous color.

Anyway, that's a long way to say fuck Glofish, who ever developed concept, and any one who supports the abominations.

maybe but there are a lot of primates to choose from
and the same could be said of a lot wild animals

it is surprising this is not just a thing humans have done to the point there is some designated domestic primate

tl:dr Primates are terrible for domestication at scale.

The problem is one of disease. While you have tons of diseases now that hop from cows to humans, that wasn't always the case. Primates are extremely similar to humans (being we're primates) so diseases spread between master and pet.

Second is an issue of aggression and intellegence. Primates are clever with slick little probing fingers. This makes it very hard to domesticate them properly because they are likely to escape. Humans are also one of the weakest primates. Chimps espeically have almost no body fat, and nearly pure muscle.

Third is the reproductive rate for every primate sucks balls, and they take too long to mature.

they seem to be having some success with these macaques in thailand
if they started this many centuries ago with selective breeding they could have been great

again wild animals are randomly aggressive but that is a large part of what domestication deals with specifically
the strength and intelligence of the primates is the point as it would allow for simple manual labor to be done more efficiently than with man

i do not expect disease to make monkeys less desirable than human labor
the reproductive rate does sound like it could be a problem though

Ooh really? This sounds like a nightmare. Imagine paying ten thousand dollars for the privilege of having your house destroyed by cat piss.

Just because something is cute doesn't mean it's a good idea (or even humane) to keep as a pet. I don't believe any of these breeders of "exotics" or "designer" shit are remotely ethical. What they produce isn't as visually horrifying as the frog dogs, but it's still wrong.

No one needs a fucking serval or serval hybrid as a pet. Leave wild and exotic animals alone. Ppl shoudl stop thinking they need to be speshul and create a new thing in order to stand out and get attention and signal status. Social media has made ppl retarded, selfish, and lacking in empathy. Get a normal fucking cat or dog jfc.

If you want a cat go to your local shelter. They are most likely overwhelmed with cats. It's also kitten season. So your chances of finding a free kitten are rising with every warm day. I got two that way in the past two years. They're currently sleeping on my bed. I should have gotten a full instead of cheaping out with the twin. 😓

I can't imagine paying thousands for a cat instead of saving a life.

I don't consider these hybrid cats pets. Savannahs and bengals are wild animals. I don't care how many generations removed they are from the wild. Leave the servals in the wild where they belong.

Don't the Macaques also carry that Hepatitis strain in their poop and bodily fluids that is basically a death sentence if it gets a hold on you?

Like you see some researcher every once in a while that dies even though they immediately wash it and start prophylactic antibiotics?

With all these people creating these crazy breeds, can we please make a German Shepherd without hip dysplasia? I know Belgians are similar, but I just really like everything else about the Germans. Plus there's a nostalgic aspect to them where I grew up with them.
They're called working line German Shepherds. Those are the Shepherds made to work on the field. They don't have hip dysplasia!
Why shouldn't monkeys have monkey jobs?
Monkey does a job, monkey gets a banana??? seems harmless
Agreed. Dogs were initially bred to be working companions and they loved it. Given that dogs that are that are given a purpose in life (working an easy job) instead of sitting around all day, and are treated right (fed well and given rest) tend to live longer, would the same be true for monkee?

There's so many cute and healthy mixed-breeds out there, I really don't get why people bother with most cat breeds when you don't gain much if anything in the cuteness department and you lose so much in the health department.

Then there's shit like hairless cats, which imo look ugly and you have to do all this extra maintenance to them. Boggles my mind why people think it's worth it.

Just get a domestic shorthair. Everybody's happy. You can even still share cute cat pictures on social media and people will love them!

What a canary should look like:

The Giboso Canary/Canary Gibber Italicus (bred to look like this):

Their necks permanently stuck at that angle. Their chest is always bald. They can't fly. They can't breath correctly. They can't hold onto their perch for long. They can't bend their legs much.
This isn't a canary, this is a whole vulture. I can't even think of who would look at this poor thing and think: "this bird is so cute! i want to keep it at my home!"

Sphynxes produces less dander and less of the allergy-causing protein in their urine and saliva as well. The whole oriental line of cats really are less allergic due to less production of those proteins (sphynxes come from orientals). Because you have to bath sphynxes so often, they don't often build up enough saliva, oils, dander, etc to cause issues for people with allergies.

Awesome, admittedly I haven't done a ton of research on quality local breeders and bloodlines and all that as I'm still about a year of from being able to give one the proper home it needs (Big yard, job that allows me to have the time to give proper attention and training). I just knew from growing up the issues our dogs had later in life, and was hoping to avoid it.

A working dog sounds fantastic though. Got a buddy with a working breed and that dog might be the most well tempered and loving dog I've ever known, and took to training incredibly well. He could definitely use a buddy with as much energy as him.

First of all, thanks to this getting posted in community happenings, reading the posts by all these bully "breeders" archived here has brought immense mirth and introduced me to a community that is simultaneously horrifying, enraging, and impossible to take seriously when you read the actual words and look at the amazing graphic design.

...and now I'm seeing it everywhere, just hiding out in the corner of your eye. For example, I was researching shingle cutting a few days ago, and accidentally revisited the video after going through a couple dozen pages of the thread. The video was scrolled down to the comments and what do I see front and center:

Lake State Bullies? Oh no...
1715439281849.png
Oh, well that bully isn't the most deformed this thread has seen by a long shot, and they don't seem to be hustling on Youtube, but I see reptiles as the banner which seems like a bad omen given some of the things shared about the reptile breeding community by Android Raptor and others.

Cursory googling didn't bring up much so they're either not operating on the indexed web exactly, or maybe no longer do.

100% this IMO. I've taken care of some Savannahs before and while it was very interesting comparing how they behaved to other cats, it was clear they were also not like other cats and I question their ability to be a proper pet.

The F1 would stalk me, not in an aggressive way, but in a "I will keep 10 ft distance between you and me, and I will NOT let my eyes leave you at any time" kind of way. It was slightly unnerving to always have a completely emotionless catface peering out from around any available corner like that, and the eyes never softened or blinked: just the wild animal death-stare of a creature confident they can fuck you up if they want to, but don't feel the need to do so right now. Fascinating, but no way I'd want to take one home.

E:
I'm not sure what a "grinch blood" dog is, but there's an instagram account baylinebullyz that breeds what they call "grinchie" bulldogs that look like they can barely stand up, let alone walk around.

This interview should give an idea of the kinds of people who breed these poor dogs. This guy spend ten years in jail and looks like he's sub-literate at best.
The interview got removed at some point in the last couple years I think, here's an archive snapshot:

Also, it occurred to me that the way these people talk about bloodlines sounds a lot like how low to mid level weed-people talk about marijuana, specifically the provenance of dank nugs from what I remember from that corner of the internet, which I'm sure is a huge coincidence.

This.
Sphynxes were at least bred for a legit reason - to be hypoallergic -, instead of some bullshit appearance standards.
I'm not going to deny they aren't horrible crimes against nature, and there are plenty of people who have one just for novelty alone, but at least there was a reason for the breed to be made this way.

If they're taken care of correctly they're fine. Their main problems are skin conditions caused because unlike most cats, they need to be actually bathed. Among the horrid abominations we've bred, they're the most harmless. The main problem, with most vanity breeds like this, is utter retards who get them and then don't take care of them the way they need.

Much like other overbred breeds, they have a few other health problems, but not quite to the slammed and smashed level.

I really do think there should be laws against creating breeds like this where it's to serve some entirely human purpose or just be "cute" but it actually harms the animals.

So I've just read nearly all of this thread in a day, started tuning out the last 50 pages or so when Android Raptor began cluttering things up with her inane quadrupleposting bullshit. Thanks to whoever posted the thread in Community Happenings!

I may have something to contribute to the actual purpose of this thread. Years ago I lurked in some of the big Exotics groups just to observe ghetto drama in its natural habitat. I probably still have a stash of retarded dog pics and breeder chimpout screenshots on an old hard drive. I'll look.

I'm sure every one of those frog dogs I laughed at years ago is dead now :(Probably several of their owners too.

The amount of horrifying reactions being given is horrifying.

This. Ive had two cats in my life and both have been absolutely phenomenal cats, very dog like in their personalities. First was a random kitten that appeared on our patio. Second was a kitten I got from a random guy off craigslist.

Paid nothing for them and gotten everything in return.

I can't imagine paying thousands for a cat instead of saving a life.
Because these cats already exist regardless of if you pay or not, you are not preventing them from existing and this sort of attitude is dumb as fuck.
If a person wants a specific breed of cat then that is what they want, they don't want a cat from a shelter, this choice does not mean another cat has to die in place of a breeded cat, they did not want the shelter cat to begin with. You don't have to kill a shelter cat to adopt a Bengal or Ragdoll.

Also for the record at least in Australia, cat fancies and breeder shows donate money and food towards cat shelters/orgs.

The problem is not people who want a breed or even the breed themselves, its back yard breeders who do not do it ethically and ones who breed obviously flawed breeds.
