Not sure who you're talking about. Canete and Stoffels, maybe? For anything besides Lim's and Ernst's properties, Iconic is just Tim Lim's version of Rippasend and it doesn't even ship to Europe.

Stoffels is a phenomenal artist.

And Douglas Ernst's stories are fantastic too.
I'm just saying, if you have the artistic eye, you can, of course, evaluate if someone else is a good artist.

I want my books to resemble a cross between early 2000's DC and modern manga. Others, like Dogman and they like Dogman so much, they don't care if he looks like a child drew him.

I don't think Chuck and Mike or the Soskas are a bad fit, it's a new universe that's growing pretty fast and it's made some mistakes that come with growing fast. Again, IMAGE fucked up a lot. (Still does in my opinion.)

I think EJ will not get the right people in the immediate future, and the next few comics he creates will suck.

Unlike Iconic, which has a growing fanbase, Rippaverse seems to have a declining one.

I've always liked Iconic, but their sales growth is pretty slow. I feel like it's gonna take many years yet before they have a singular book that outsells even Cyberfrog 3. That's why Ethan has been able to hand wave them away for years. He could always fall back on his sales figures as proof of him being #1.

And while sales figures shouldn't be everything, they absolutely are in Ethan's mind. Hence the ongoing (and mostly one-sided) feud.

His artstyle is unique because he purposefully exaggerates certain aspects of human anatomy. Not too out of step with manga as a medium itself, however it sells like hotcakes. Why? Because the intent of the story is broadcast through the art itself. The correct emotions are thrust into the reader's mental cache of information about each event taking place on each page. Is this lacking in the Rippaverse? In ISOM #1 and #2 yes. There are a lot of mixed messages, as well as the color choices being all over the place. As you know color is important to conveying emotion in comics. Particularly in action/superhero comics.

You can bring up anyone you'd like, but that doesn't transform the standard you're establishing. What makes a "good" product for market, tends to make a very ugly thing for museums to hang on a wall. (Ex: Globohomo Vector Art vs a slice of life impasto by a master) Inversely, a high art piece doesn't do much for the market due to it's niche appeal and utter lack of utility outside of being put on a wall. (Ex: The impasto wouldn't help much in marketing a mystery goo jab vs all the globohomo art you saw advertising it)
