Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
This is the kind of Pokémon autism I live for as a Johtostan.
I don't diserspect the opinion of people that were to tell me gen 2 had the best games of the series, but I wouldn't hesitate to strangle whoever tells me they are perfect.
Ruins of alph is biggest offender for me: amazing location and the puzzle were also quite neat, but bad the reward for finding and completing those was absolutely terrible; being just variants of a shitty pokmeon that learns nothing but a completely useless move and, if you decide to waste time trying to catch them all, you get a pat on the back and a stupid printer to work.
I don't know what angered more 8 years old me, between that printer not even being possible to work even if I had it because I was playing on a game boy advance or the empty slot in the pokedex mokcing you as if there was a super secret final Unown.
Crystal makes it even worse, die to the intro hinting them being somehow more relevant to the game, yet having no appearance in the game and the additional rooms holding nothing but useless junk.
What a fucking waste.

Some potential news about Gen 10. Take this a grain of salt.

Some potential news about Gen 10. Take this a grain of salt.
is anyone surprised by this? Khu is a hack, but Pokémon works on a very predictable generational cycle- 3 years per generation unless it's an anniversary (at which point the next mainline game happens on it).

Given the total dearth of Z-A news from reveal (compared to the 2025 release date), alongside TPC stating (I think) about a year ago that they were trying to slow things down, alongside how importantly they treated the 20th anniversary (with them rushing SM to meet that 20th deadline- god I feel old, how has it already been almost 10 years since that pair?!), I don't think such an easy assumption as this should be attributed to a leaker.

What I am curious about is who's gonna be directing these things. Ohmori took the reins with ORAS nearly a decade ago now and has directed about 3 and a half generations worth of mainline games. Tajiri had 2 generations, Masuda had 3... are they going to give Ohmori a fourth, or is he going to step down and pass the torch after SV? I'd think with the disasters that generations 8 and 9 have been (enough for GF to take notice), any successor would try to pivot away from how Ohmori did things, but that's even assuming such a successor exists in the first place.

...please let Ohmori go. Please. Literally anyone would be better at directing this poor franchise than him at this point.

Took some save scumming (refreshing when you're about to white out) to get here, in part because the site is prone to erroring out and shutting down, at times, and because the early game will spitroast aggressively if starter choices are limited and your luck is total ass.
Late reply, but you can enable retries in settings so you can reset to the beginning of a battle if you lose.

I’m disappointed that winning a run doesn’t have any sort of congratulations screen/message. It just resets to the title screen with zero fanfare.

I'm kind of shocked that no one's has mentioned that certain GameStop locations are now buying PSA-graded trading cards, of which Pokémon is part of.
This news has been in the works for months.

We can reveal that starting next week, select GameStop stores in the U.S. will begin buying graded trading cards from customers, including Pokemon! The company will sell the graded cards on GameStop.com. Eventually, the program will expand to all locations.

As with their game trade-ins, customers will be able to sell their graded Pokemon cards to GameStop for cash or store credit. It’s currently unclear how GameStop will determine the value of the cards.

One store manager we spoke to, who worked with GameStop to test this program, stated, “GameStop’s leaders believe this is the obvious next step for the company. Physical media is waning, especially for video games. It was time for the company to branch out to trading cards. They are the future.”

GameStop will initially accept PSA 8 cards and higher. Cards valued at $500 or more will not be accepted. Graded cards from other companies like CGC and Beckett will not be allowed yet. Most notably for Pokemon fans,

GameStop will begin selling Pokemon singles in stores. They will launch with $1 holos and reverse holos. Other bundles of cards may be offered in the future. (Some of the pilot locations tested additional product configurations, like bundles of commons, but those have been cut.) GameStop will be sourcing the cards from the secondary market.

“GameStop specifically wants to sell Pokemon cards. Simply put, Pokemon is GameStop’s fastest selling TCG. And it’s by far the most popular franchise. They want to sell cards like an LGS.”

He went on to say, “I think this will make the Pokemon TCG more accessible to fans, especially young kids who visit our stores. They will get to pick out cards of their favorite Pokemon. Maybe it will inspire them to dive into the TCG. Or they can pick out cards they need to finish their decks. It opens up so many new doors for fans and of course GameStop.”

But that’s not all: could we also see GameStop host Pokemon Leagues in the future?

For the past few months, select GameStop locations have been running “Pokemon Trade & Play Events.” At first they were only held upon the release of a new set, but then GameStop expanded them to biweekly gatherings, almost like a Pokemon League. These events were officially backed by TPCi, who provided kits and promos. (The promos were all reprints from past events.)

Between selling Pokemon singles in stores and testing Trade & Play events at select locations, could GameStop be testing the viability of running Pokemon Leagues? If so, we should find out over the next few months!

GameStop has not officially announced any of this news yet. It’s possible they won’t make a public announcement until this program rolls out to all stores later this year.
I initially called bullshit on this idea, mostly due to the possibility of GameStop severely undervaluing cards just like they do for used games.

GameStop officially revealed the program yesterday and PokeBeach posted an article on it going into detail regarding how it'd work. Needless to say I had to eat a bit of crow due to GameStop actually being fair on prices for once.
We’ve now learned full details for GameStop’s graded cards program!

GameStop plans to launch the program at all locations in June. Today it soft-launched at 200 stores in Texas, Connecticut, Kentucky, Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee, and New York.

It appears GameStop will offer fair market prices for PSA cards. When we first revealed this program last week, the most common critique was that GameStop would only buy cards for a portion of their value. However, that’s not the case (at least not currently).

For example, when visiting a store earlier today, GameStop’s offer for a PSA 10 Jolteon VMAX was $158 cash or $176 store credit. A PSA 10 Noivern V was $121.50 cash or $135 store credit.

These prices are similar to what the cards are worth if you try to buy them online right now.

GameStop’s buying prices are similar to the price guide on PSAcard.com. PSA’s price guide scrapes auction websites to determine the average market value of a card. GameStop appears be using that database for their price, at least in part. For example, the Jolteon VMAX was offered for $176 store credit and recently sold for $177.50 at auction.

When a customer brings cards in, they will be valued in real-time by entering their PSA number into GameStop’s systems. Because the prices can fluctuate often, GameStop’s offers will only be valid during that transaction. The customer may then accept or reject the offer. They can be paid in cash or store credit, but cash will offer 10% less.

GameStop is currently training its employees to evaluate the authenticity of PSA cards submitted by customers. As mentioned last week, cards valued above $500 will not be accepted. Signed cards also won’t be accepted at this time.

Here is an internal checklist employees will use to verify a card slab’s authenticity. Employees will even use a blacklight. If a slab fails any one of these checks, the employee must reject it.

GameStop is currently sourcing fixtures to eventually display and sell the graded cards in stores (though it’s unclear if they will offer a fair market price when selling them). As we reported last week, the cards they buy from customers won’t initially be sold in stores. They will be shipped to GameStop’s headquarters and sold on GameStop.com.

Eventually GameStop plans to expand this program to all types of collectibles, like statues and Funko Pop. Some of their internal documentation indicates the program may expand to other grading companies as well.
It's a bold move but it's one being done out of desperation, we all know that GameStop isn't doing well business-wise and catering to trading card slab collectors isn't going to do it. Also, I laughed at the possibility of them expanding into graded Funko POPs of all things.
Niantic and their tranny community manager are now preventing people from commenting on Twitter, lol! The backlash over the avatars and shitty updates hasn't stopped because Ninatic's tranny CM would make tone deaf tweets to shill the games "updates." There's a Master ball event, but the requirements are insane (Catch 1400 pokemon through 5 missions in 5 days or less with other lackluster rewards). The only ones who are going to get a masterball are nolife redditors or streamers and youtubers.

Another problem that's not on the list is pokemon just aren't catchable after you beat raids or rockets. You can throw decent curve balls at raid bosses or rocket Pokemon, and they'll still run away from you, making you feel like you wasted time and a raid pass.

I'm surprised Niantic didn't disable Youtube comments yet.
I hate to defend Niantic here but the Masterwork Research task that dropped today, like most Masterwork Research tasks, is meant to be done over a long period of time. The news page detailing the event even mentions that the Masterwork Research doesn’t expire so long as you log in once during the initial time period.

I remember reading articles (one of which can be found here) that said that TPC was going to do that but apparently it was actually a mixed bag, the COO said that they want to put out quality products whilst also meeting regular release dates.

Only partially Pokémon related but Vimms lair has force removed all the Nintendo games. NOA does it again
Damn it, now I'll have to find a new site to get the DS games from. I really hope hShop remains unaffected for a while, I have a lot of games to pick up there.

Yes. They wanted to get out a new game for the 20th. They say they never had plans for Z but that is an obvious lie for many, many reasons.
Games like emerald and platinum makes the previous entries nearly obsolete.
I always hated mainline pokemon being split in 2 games and then release a 3rd game that adds more content later.
Game freak ceaing to release the 3rd game didn't helped either.

Agreed. I'm fucking tired of dogshit levelling curves where the answer to the forced exp share is to let your faves rot in the box (this is literally what he's said players should do, how the fuck did someone this retardedly out of touch get a leading position?), and I'm tired of every single game having an obligatory out-of-place karoshi "joke" like the boss is trying to normalize the overwork caused by the shitty release schedule (the ship in ORAS, Nanu, Piers, Larry, poor fucking Kieran... why does it keep fucking happening? tee hee silly employees, being overworked until you want to die only happens to our funny cartoon characters, now get back to pumping our our soulless glop... it's just so fucking weird man). I just wanted to see a proper Z version someday that actually had some respect for the original games and expanded their mysteries and shit, but judging by the limp-dicked promotion comparable to the original ORAS trailers it's just gonna be the same shit. And it's probably going to be the same subversionist retardation as Leg-ends Arse-us too. God I hate modern Pokemon.

On the other hand, I'd rather play Red/Blue instead of Yellow. I will always hate the fact that you could never evolve your Pikachu because the game was tied to the anime, therefore Raichu was completely unobtainable unless you traded for one or evolved it in another game then sent it back to your game.

That and Missingno just makes the original games 10x more fun.

Pokemon yellow does have different brands of missingnos obtainable with ditto glitch, said glitch also makes any gen 1 game completable without trades, making them both a valid choice for a playtrough.
Gold/silver vs crystal is a matter of asking yourself "do you think the battle tower, extra ruin of alph trash and qol features are worth 6-7 missing pokemons?", I do like ampharos and girafarig, they are 2 of my favourite so I do kinda prefer Silver over the other 2.
Emerald and platinum on the other side have way too much new shit added for me not to prefer them over the RS and DP, having missing pokemons is jewish but whatever, you need like a dozen different games and event in order to complete the pokedex in each title anyway.

Yea, you keep the questline after the update. Thanks for that. I thought it was a fomo.
