Sex is a biological function for reproduction. Species that do not reproduce asexually (us) have one individual with a small mobile gametes (males) and others with large immobile gametes (females). There will only be a XX and XY. Deviation from these are genetic syndromes.

Chromosomes are unaffected by personal perceptions of "identity".

I'm pre-t and almost stealth, I do everything I can to pass but being without T get ya just until a certain point yk, apart from THAT struggle I've been getting misgendered, not because of what I look or sound but because of what I do on my free time, I got 2, 3ish hobbies; Drawing/painting, Woodcutting and Knitting. The last one is the fucker that is getting me misgendered more, It's the current joke of being a grandma, an old lady and so on, I'm proud of the result of my knitting and I enjoy doing it a lot, it's calming, I get something useful when I end it and It helps me distract from anger and some other hurtful bad habits, so it's fucking awful knowing that doing something I love it gets me something I hate, which is that people I cared about is seeing me as something I'm not, and fr it's the most stupid joke that they say all the time, never get tired of, a classic or wtvr, and it got 100% worse when I participate weekly in a minitramp jumping class (it was free),

Honestly I know that it could be easily solved if I stopped doing it or showing anything related with that hobby, but I don't want to lose something as lovely as knitting, and I also want to use the stuff I do, and fr I'm almost every hour in the University so yeah.

Yeah, I hate to say it but I think the Catholics were right about this. The Catholic rationale behind not endorsing the pill was "It's unhealthy to separate sex from reproduction," and everyone at the time thought they were crazy.

Another example of this mindset is when troons say "Most people don't even know what chromosomes they have without a genetic test!" Leaving aside the obvious and noticeable health problems that are caused by abnormal chromosomes, everyone who has reproduced knows what their chromosomes are because they passed down one of their sex chromosomes to each of their children.

But the idea of reproduction and passing down genes is just absent from their heads. Sex is just about appearance and feelings and what gets you off when you're furiously rubbing your withered genitals in front of a computer screen.

Anyway, over ten years ago I remember seeing lots of journo think pieces and chatter on social media about the other purposes of sex. Child free movement types being the worst offenders. I mean, I'm glad there's knock-on effects of a healthy sex life, however I'm bothered that some people seem completely disconnected from the only reason sex exists at all. It's the foundation of my mother's take on sex education to me: "You are going to feel and think all of these things, but remember, your body is trying to get you pregnant. Think about that before you leap."

It doesn't matter if sex is good cardio. It doesn't matter if getting a load off improves your mental health. The only reason sex exists is to make offspring. We still try to get it while subverting that fact, but that doesn't erase the evolutionary nature of sex.

Agree, but then what about animals that lay unfertilized eggs? Aren't their eggs mobile* then? I guess it's a relative term. Salmon eggs are mobile relative to apple egg cells, but not relative to salmon sperm cells... though there's not a huge difference for them

LOL truth. My ex-wife absolutely hated breastfeeding (especially once the teething started) except when I would come in for the leftovers and turn breastfeeding time into sexytime.
Btw for those who were wondering, human breast milk is very thin, sweet and almost 'chalky', or at least my wifes was. I quite enjoyed drinking off her, and so did she. Of course I never chewed the shit out of her nipples, unlike our daughters.
Strangely when pumped into bottles her milk looked very fat-rich, but it never tasted that way 'from the source'. But of course it must have been to cause babies to grow into toddlers for all those millions of years. She might have hated breastfeeding but she did it anyway knowing it was the best way for our girls to grow up with everything they needed.

Nah, "mobile" here refers to motility which specifically means moving using one's own metabolic energy. Sperm are classed as motile because they have those little tail things (flagella) that they use to move.

When you are talking about something like fish spawning, the ova are still non-motile and the sperm are still motile even though they're both being moved around in the water, because fish sperm have flagella and ova don't.

There, you learned something about fish sperm today. Isn't the farms great.

I think this is a miscommunication on my part. I don't disagree that sex is binary, and it is stupid to posit some sort of gender variable that humans can be located on an axis, but many traits that are strongly correlated with sex do follow a bimodal distributions in humans.

Grip strength (as a proxy for upper body strength) for example:

This variable in humans follows a bimodal distribution with two distinct peaks that are strongly correlated with sex. The median woman has a grip strength at about 64% of the median man, and only 0.1% of women reach the median grip strength of men. But it is not the case that any one women will necessarily be weaker than any one man. This however is irrelevant. We know that these traits follow a very specific sex differentiated distribution, so even if a woman in her 20s and a man in his 70s are much more likely to have similar or reversed upper body strength trends than the above, we can still be sure that filtering on sex will effectively separate out the two peaks of this distribution, which is the goal because obviously the group that has a median score of 50 pounds of summed grip strength is more at risk than the group with a median of 80. The fact that there are exceptions to that rule doesn't negate its use as a useful sorting heuristic.

In fact it sort of seems like troons used things like the above to argue that sex itself follows a bimodal distribution, which is false.

If I had to take a completely stupid guess for the right axis they probably use how much testosterone or estrogen someone has to measure it. Trannies think sex is nothing more than how much hormones someone has in their body. There's a reason these crazy people think pumping themselves full of artificial ones turned them into the opposite sex. To them a guy that has higher testosterone levels is more of a man than someone who's not. So if you have some condition that gives you low testosterone then you would be closer to the intersex part of the axis (according to trans logic). Hell I've herd that TIPs idea of what a "non binary" person looks like is one where TIFs don't take testosterone but chop their tits off to lower their estrogen levels so that they.....look intersex? (Even though they'd just be a woman without tits.) Likewise those crazy TIMs who have their testes remove but still want to look like a man is somehow an intersex man to them.
