Look they only close down mental asylums because of the cost and management to keep them going. They were just filling him up with people that had a different idea or question the narrative. In your eyes you think that anybody who is spastic or Looney needs to be locked up which is true to the most extent but some of it can be treated with therapy and medication. Asylums should only be for those who are totally retarded or are just too far gone to be treated. That lowers the number of patients and makes it manageable for staff to keep up because you got to remember that there are some that pretty much have the mind of a child and never learn how to shit properly so the best thing to do is just to institutionalize them under strict supervision along with repeating offenders that are too brain damage to function in the outside world.
