Great article. Does a solid job to describe the state of things as they stand after the fiasco that was the unprecedented actions taken to remove this site from the internet. While I wont say I'm optimistic about the direction of things changing, I am at least happy that there's something out there pointing out the moment before speech died.

Free Speech died in 2016 when Obama sold ICANN to the United Nations. Nobody ever reported this at all during those years. But it's significant. It's not a coincidence. This is normal policy for any U.S. restaurant that offers endless salad bar, or endless anything really, but salad bar is something that stands out in my mind.

The reason what Red Lobster did was so dumb is that something like a salad bar is all cheap shit. If there were one premium thing there, you could probably exploit it if you planned it out, but most fatties aren't going to do that. Same with Chinese buffets. It's all crap. I mean it's a good way to fill up if you're in that college student mode of only being able to afford a meal every couple days, but unless you're Jack Scalfani or a family of blapipo where one of them buys the all you can eat and then feeds everyone else with it, it's not going to break their bank.

By comparison, shrimp, even of the quality Red Lobster has, is seriously high priced stuff. I can't blame people who show up and just eat nothing but shrimp until they're full, which is the obvious game strategy for this kind of dumb offering. Why order anything else?

The point of a loss leader is to get you to buy other stuff, not just load up on the freebies.
