The warrant application likely stated that they have a mandated reporter who reported drug use and child endangerment and they need to search the home for drugs. The judge granted the warrant. That is literally all they need. They did not even need to ask Nick for the code to the door, they were just being considerate.

Those drugs aren't necessarily illegal in the contexts some of us have used them, we aren't condoning their use by divulging our experiences in a context where that information is relevant, we didn't leave those drugs laying around near children or hidden in a friend's couch where their children play, and we weren't faggy retarded straight-laced "Christian conservative family men" who wouldn't even say "damn" a couple years ago.
