The oldest kid is 16, I just don’t see a 16 year old letting themselves and their siblings starve like that. Were they underfed? Probably. Was not nutritionally healthy? Probably not. I wouldn’t say they got no food at all though. I can guarantee that like most abusers, Nick was in the process of isolating his children also. Of course he used the excuse that Kayla's family was meddling in their business and that they were a bunch of Scandinavian prudes. Nick would have managed to take his children out of that church too, if given a little more time. Nicks kids had the privilege of having a family and community that gave a shit.
