Well, I assume the kids don’t know anything because all their parents do is just fuck off to their rooms to drink/snort/watchStarTrek/fuck leaving the kids without guidance and basic rules. There’s been plenty of times his kids interrupt Nick and he’s pissed all while streaming after midnight so there’s no sense of order or discipline other than leave mom and dad alone. I think as the drugs took over the kids who were used to having all their meals ready and clothes prepped and cleaned by the nanny most likely (who quit) were just listless in an unknown world they had no clue how to navigate. The footage belongs to the public and a FOIA is just us asking for it. They have to justify a denial if they don't want it out, and denials can be appealed. Either way, it looks like the clerks have already confirmed that it can be released by putting a price tag on it.

You're forgetting Kayla has kids with Nick. Aaron and April don't have kids. There's a lot more at play to prevent Kayla leaving for Aaron. I believe he even stated the kids as her reasoning for sticking around but don't quote me on it.
