Im kinda surprised that the nick rekieta dumpster fire isn't more of a big deal. Like, it got the bare minimum internet commentators and news articles for it, but I kinda expected youtube lawyer being high on coke then the police showing up the next day be way more a bigger deal beyond the youtube sphere.
He's a has been. It's been more than two years since he was in the spotlight. That's an eternity for an online personality and he doesn't have legacy media name recognition.

Yes, but you forget that Nick is a loser.

The media sharks only care about dragging down winners.

18 isn't really an anime coomer character per say. I think it's why the unbreaded guy liked her. Akira Toriyama was mostly known for focusing on attention to detail on body ratios, muscle detail and bone structures when designing and animating characters. Not really emphasizing secondary sex characteristics on most women. This results in a more realistic woman than most anime. Something a normal non coomer would be attracted to. 18 is pictured below and aside from the large head has the figure of a realistic atheletic woman with a flat chest.

That's a lot of cope to justify Null's love of anime and vtubers.

Anyone else waiting on a Nintendo reskin featuring The Nose? Super Gunt 64 style.

Would Nick collect coke or bottles for points? Balldos? Spent shell casings?

Would the enemy sprites be his wife or raccoons? We have stories of him beating both...
I want a high quality Rekieta game made in RPG Maker.

IIRC, Thailand was not the first place he landed. I think he wanted to go to Japan (because he's a weeb), but couldn't get in due to COVID restrictions, so he spent some time in South Korea, and then I think Thailand came afterwards.

The simplest explanation for Andrew is he has "yellow fever." Pretty sure he's even admitted so.

Again, I am not a fan of Andrew, but Barnes is an utter shithead for insinuating what he did.

One good thing about Andrew is I doubt he's gonna turn out like Nick if he goes back to asia. Unless he's a fucking idiot. Asian drug laws are pretty draconian, from what I understand. I think in some countries, like Singapore and Indonesia, they straight up execute your ass if it's over a certain amount.
Andrew D'adesky is Visa hopping. He will bounce around countries as needed. Barnes insinuating that he chose Thailand specifically and did so because he's a pedophile is ridiculous.

It was a joke and it was funny. Andrew hops around Asian countries for women.
Agreed. IIRC Andrew himself has openly talked about seeing only asian women nowadays so the "yellow fever" theory seems to be true.
Also on this "hopping aroud Asian countries" brought a memory from my old job, there was this weirdo hippie dude who always worked 6 months/year in our company then left to Asia for 6 months and came back.
He would always talk about traveling around Laos etc. random smaller Asian countries on his 6 month "adventures" he told that as an tourist you can only spend X-amount of months in a specific country, then you need to cross the border to the neighbouring country and spend like week or 2 there before you can go back to the country you switched from and the tourist Visa time resets or something like that.

Never fact checked any of this personally cause honestly I just didn't care enough what the stoned forklift operator usually mumbled, but this topic brought memory of that visa thing.

EDIT: NINJA'D by @Spaded Dave
Visa hopping

I don’t think he can actually say that though— even if Patrick Tomlinson tries to argue this with his trolls. I think you plead no contest but are then still found guilty. Maybe I am a retard and totally wrong about that though.
if you plead no contest the state still considers you guilty and punishes you as such.
the main difference is that you do not formally admit to having done anything. this can be relevant for example when someone tries to bring a civil lawsuit for damages caused by your criminal actions. if you plead guilty in criminal court then that guy can use your guilty plea to tell the judge "look your honor, he admitted that he did this to me!" but if you plead no contest then he can't do that so his position in the suit is a bit weaker.

"I'd have thought it would be way more a bigger deal beyond international news"

I grew up in a rural county where the county seat is a tiny ville and everyone pretty much knows everyone else, or at least their families--more specifically, the reputation of their families. I don't think big city-types fully grasp the interconnectedness of it, how rigid this hierarchy is.

There is such a thing as small-town royalty. These are the elites of the community, some of whom are uber-wealthy even by urban standards. Some constitute the professional class such as doctors and lawyers. Others are the largescale farmers, factory owners, landowners, etc.

Because of their family's money and Nick Rekieta's professional position, he and his wife would be members of this small-town royalty by default, and I'm betting the farm the very last thing the county prosecutor, judges, police, CPS, and Powers That Be at the top of this county caste system wanted to do was arrest the Rekietas. It's a lose-lose situation for them because they know the process will be drawn-out and expensive, which also means the outcome will be uncertain. Convicting the Rekietas even on the lesser charges is no sure thing. No prosecutor wants to take on a criminal case that isn't a sure thing.

Those Rekieta fans claiming their guy is being persecuted and it's all part of a big conspiracy have no idea how small communities work. Nick Rekieta's alcoholism and drug abuse problems were (and are) blatantly on display. The Rekieta kids were complaining, and those complaints became official record once they reached a mandatory reporter. County authorities moved on the Rekietas because they had no choice.
You're correct in explaining how things work for local families, but let me add some additional details to this. I come from and still live in rural America.

What you said is absolutely true for natives. It works differently for carpet baggers, which I believe covers the Rackets clan. I don't recall seeing it, so correct me if I'm wrong, but I know his parents are not from there and I don't believe hers are either.

When it comes to migrants into the area, especially wealthy ones, they don't automatically get added into the club. The rich ones are seen as trying to come in and take over things that don't belong to them. Middle class and lower have a much easier time integrating.

With that in mind, Nick is actually in a precarious position here. He's already seen as somewhat of a pariah and now has these charges on him. He won't be getting any favors from anyone in this case.

Even Spectre thinks Barnes is going off reservation with his defense of Nick.
