I misread your post originally, but I disagree with this. My parents bred huskies and I've bred dogs myself. It's really not close to as difficult as one would think unless they've never cared for an animal before. I know this wasn't the crux of your point but I felt like I should say it because of the analogy.

Anyway ultimately I agree. I'd like to know the logistics. I would say if it was such a burden that she couldn't manage to just be a mother, maybe cut out the extracurricular activities. Have you ever considered the adults in the room (4 of them) being neglected by the 5 children?
They should be doing chores such as cooking a 7-course meal complete with a perfectly baked chocolate soufflé.
They should be doing the shopping and all the laundry too. And by the age of 6, they should be able to keep a space clean. With all 5 of them, they should be able to cover the entire house.
